President Almuntasir presided over the first RenewHope meeting of the Yerwa Youth Creative Forum (YYCF) at Gwange 2 Primary and Secondary School on Sunday, 17th May, 2026.
The meeting was commenced at exactly 11:00am where the Secretary of the forum, Engr. Tijjani Usman Abdullahi declared the RenewHope meeting opened.
The session began with an opening prayer led by Baji Muhd Harun, creating a peaceful and united atmosphere among members present.
President Almuttasir Umar, delivered an inspiring address in which he welcomed members and gave a brief overview of the forum. He reviewed the history and achievements of the forum since its establishment and emphasized the forum’s commitment to empowering young people in Maiduguri through creativity, skills development, and humanitarian service.
According to him, the forum was created to provide opportunities for young people beyond classroom education by equipping them with practical skills that can improve their lives and contribute positively to society.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the starting Project by Yusuf Mallam Jibrin, the Director of Planning and Research. He explained that the project is designed to introduce practical and creative programs into government schools across Maiduguri. The initiative aims to reduce excessive dependence on theoretical learning by encouraging hands-on, skill-based education. Through this project, students will actively participate in creative and vocational activities that can prepare them for future employment opportunities and self-reliance.
Members of the forum also made several important contributions during the meeting. Comr. Muhd Ya’u stressed the importance of prioritizing practical skill acquisition within the forum. He recommended that YYCF should organize training programs in areas such as soap making, handmade shoe production, and other vocational crafts that can help young people become self-employed or financially independent.
In addition, Ali Aminu Uba and Amb. Jamilu Usman Abdullahi, who are both involved in Media and Publicity, emphasized that YYCF should focus more on producing skilled and productive youths rather than merely issuing certificates. They argued that the true success of the forum would be measured by the ability of its members to acquire valuable skills that can generate income and create opportunities for themselves and others.
Furthermore, Comr. Binash, the Senior Adviser of the forum, advised the leadership to establish functional departments within YYCF. He explained that creating clear structures and assigning specific responsibilities would improve accountability, reduce overlap in duties, and ensure that every member contributes effectively toward achieving the forum’s goals.
Also contributing during the session, Comr. Adamu M. Kirawa from the Media and Publicity department stated that senior members of the forum are fully prepared and committed to carrying out responsibilities whenever assignments are given. He noted that the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by members during the meeting reflected their readiness to support the growth and success of the organization.
In his closing remarks, Engr. Tijjani Usman Abdullahi thanked all members for their attendance, participation, and valuable contributions. He encouraged everyone to continue serving humanity with sincerity, dedication, and consistency in line with the vision and motto of the forum. The meeting concluded with a closing prayer led by Baji Muhd Harun.
At the end of the meeting, several important resolutions and next steps were agreed upon. These included the preparation for the launch of the STARTING Project, the development of skill-based training programs, the creation of departmental structures within the forum, and the strengthening of publicity and outreach activities to increase the visibility of YYCF and attract more partnerships.
The meeting successfully reinforced the commitment of the Yerwa Youth Creative Forum to youth empowerment, practical education, and community development under its guiding motto:
Service to humanity
We rise by lifting others
Signed
