UPDATE: FORMER GOV. IBRAHIM IDRIS WILL BE BURIED TODAY

The body of the Former Governor will arrive at Abuja Airport today morning on British Airways.
The body will be received by the Gov, Alhaji Usman Ododo, Former Governors Capt. Idris Wada and Former Governor Yahaya Bello, Prayer will be offer at Abuja Central Mosque before taking the body to Idah the ancestral home of Igala for burial as directed by The Ata Igala.

Judge withdraws from EFCC’s N10bn money laundering case against Ali Bello, other

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday recused himself from the ongoing N10 billion money laundering offence alleged to have been perpetrated by Ali Bello, the Chief of Staff, CoS, to Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi.

Justice Omotosho, in a ruling, held that he considered the decision reasonable, fair and in the interest of the parties, the administration of justice and society at large.

Bello Receives Nollywood Veteran Chinedu Ikedieze, Urges Support for President Tinubu Ahead of 2027

Nollywood veteran, Chinedu Ikedieze, has described former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, CON, as a man of vision and courage whose administration brought significant development to the state.
Ikedieze, who described Bello as a very good friend, said he became an admirer of the former governor from the very day he learnt of his election as Governor of Kogi State.

He said Bello had done remarkably well in office, stressing that his antecedents and the visible developments across the state spoke louder than anything else. He added that he was particularly pleased with the former governor’s performance and the impact of his administration.
“Your Excellency, you have been a very good friend of mine. I did not just become fond of you now or yesterday. I fell in love with you the very first day I read about your election as Governor of Kogi State. At that age, I said to myself that there is a future for Nigeria when you see young people taking the helm of affairs.
“I am happy to let you know that you did not disappoint. I have been to Lokoja and have traversed the state several times. I have seen what you did, and it is good to know that age is still on your side for more meaningful impact,” he said.
The Nollywood veteran also told Bello that he remained ready to contribute his quota to the development and greatness of Nigeria. He said he did not want to be among those who merely prayed for a prosperous Nigeria without making any personal contribution towards achieving it.

Ikedieze said he believed Nigerians, particularly those with influence in society, had a responsibility to contribute to building a better country.
Responding, Yahaya Bello welcomed his guest and commended him for what he described as his “One Nigeria spirit”, noting that Ikedieze represents many positive things to many Nigerians.
Bello also praised the actor’s creativity, talent and cinematic ingenuity, observing that Ikedieze and the wider Nigerian film industry had made significant contributions to the country’s economy and international image.

The former governor urged the Nollywood veteran to work with his colleagues to become more actively involved in the nation’s political and civic process.
Bello encouraged Ikedieze and other influential Nigerians in the creative industry to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and contribute their voices and influence towards the pursuit of a greater and more prosperous Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that nation-building should not be left solely to politicians, stressing that professionals, entertainers, business leaders and other influential citizens all have important roles to play in shaping the country’s future.

Late Governor Ibrahim Idris’ Family Thanks Kogi Government, Pledges Full Cooperation Ahead of Burial

The family of the late former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has commended the Kogi State Government for its support and solidarity with the family following the death of the former Governor.

The family also pledged its full cooperation with the State Government as preparations continue for the burial of the former Governor, who died recently.

The Head of the Family, Alhaji Haruna Idris, stated this when he received members of the Burial Committee constituted by the Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo.

Alhaji Haruna expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo and the State Government for the responsibility and respect shown to the late former Governor, particularly the decision of the government to take full responsibility for his burial.

He said the family was deeply grateful for the support extended to it at a difficult moment, assuring the Burial Committee of the family’s readiness to work closely with the government to ensure a befitting burial for the former Governor.

Addressing the family, the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Burial Committee, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, described the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris as a colossal loss to Kogi State, describing the late former Governor as a leader who was widely respected and loved.

“It is a huge loss to the entire State. We have lost a colossus and a leader who was loved and respected by all. As a Government, we will give him a befitting State burial,” the Deputy Governor said.

The Deputy Governor assured the family that the State Government would work with it to ensure that all necessary arrangements were made for a dignified and befitting burial in honour of the late former Governor.

Following the formal interaction, members of the Burial Committee and representatives of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris’ family held a closed-door meeting during which issues relating to the family and arrangements for the burial were discussed.

Members of the Burial Committee who accompanied the Deputy Governor included the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, PhD; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ali Bello; Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo; Commissioner for Transportation, Victor Atuluku; Director General of Protocol, Kogi State Government, Mallam Suleiman Ibrahim; Special Adviser to the Governor, Prince Bashir Abubakar Audu; and other senior government officials.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE PASSING OF H.E. ALHAJI IBRAHIM IDRIS

I received with sadness the news of the passing of His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Governor of Kogi State, at the age of 77.

His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in the political history of our dear State. As a former Governor and public servant, he made his contributions to the development and affairs of Kogi State and Nigeria.

On behalf of my family, I extend my sincere condolences to the Idris family, his associates and the people of Kogi State over this loss.

May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al Jannatul Firdaus. May He also grant his family the strength and fortitude to bear this loss.

May his soul rest in peace.
