Kogi NEWMAP EIB Puts Safety First, Provides Life Jackets to Ganaja Community
The Kogi State NEWMAP EIB has taken another practical step towards protecting lives and promoting community safety with the provision of life jackets to the people of Ganaja Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The life jackets were provided under the leadership of the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi Abbas, as part of the project’s commitment to supporting communities and promoting safety around waterways.
The items were presented to the Paramount Ruler of Ganaja, HRH Alhaji Yakubu Jibrin Abubakar, the Anaja Gaku of Ganaja, for use by members of the community who depend on the waterways.
Receiving the intervention, Hon. Mohammed Ismaila Ganaja, the Ogazuma Ogbani of Ganaja, on behalf of the good people of Ganaja Community, Ajaokuta LGA, expressed appreciation to Kogi NEWMAP EIB for the gesture.
The community commended the project for recognising the importance of water safety and taking a practical approach towards protecting lives, particularly in communities where movement and economic activities around waterways are part of everyday life.
The provision of the life jackets further demonstrates that environmental intervention goes beyond physical infrastructure. It also involves protecting people, strengthening community resilience and promoting safer ways of living.
The initiative is in line with the commitment of the Kogi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, CON, to initiatives that positively impact the lives and wellbeing of citizens across the state.
For Kogi NEWMAP EIB, the intervention carries a simple but powerful message:
Safety is a priority. Every life matters.
