On Wednesday in Kogi State, we joined the Renewed Hope Initiative to launch the Flow With Confidence project and distribute sanitary pads to schoolgirls across the 21 Local Government Areas.

This initiative of Her Excellency, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a powerful step toward ensuring that no girl misses school because of her period. By providing a one year supply of sanitary pads, the programme is helping young girls maintain menstrual hygiene, stay confident, and focus on their education.

We deeply appreciate the vision and compassion of the First Lady for prioritizing the health, dignity, and future of the girl child. Together, we will continue to support our girls so they can pursue their dreams with confidence and pride. 🌸

RHI Distributes 10,000 Sanitary Pads to Schoolgirls as ‘Flow With Confidence’ Project Launches in Kogi

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the pet project of the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has commenced the distribution of 10,000 disposable sanitary pads to schoolgirls across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

The intervention, under the “Flow With Confidence” project, is designed to promote menstrual hygiene and support young girls—particularly those in rural communities—with access to sanitary products so they can remain in school and pursue their aspirations without interruption.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Lokoja, Senator Tinubu explained that the initiative was conceived to help young girls maintain proper menstrual hygiene while boosting their confidence.

Represented by the Wife of the Kogi State Governor and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, the First Lady noted that the programme is being launched simultaneously in selected states across the country, with 370,000 packs of sanitary pads to be distributed nationwide.

Senator Tinubu emphasized that the project specifically targets schoolgirls in rural communities who often face challenges managing menstruation due to limited access to sanitary products.

“No girl should miss a day at school due to inability to access sanitary products. We are distributing a one-year supply of pads so that girls will not have to choose between their education and their health,” she stated.

She further expressed concern that many girls resort to unhygienic alternatives during their menstrual periods, which can lead to infections and other health complications.

According to the First Lady, the programme is designed to ensure that girls can “flow with pride and confidence,” free from shame, stigma, or the challenges caused by lack of access to menstrual hygiene products.

Senator Tinubu also called on corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to support the initiative, while urging traditional and religious leaders to help ensure proper distribution of the sanitary items.

Encouraging the beneficiaries, she said:
“You are the future of this nation, and I believe in you. Menstruation should never stop you from becoming everything you aspire to be.”

Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, a total of 370,000 sanitary pads will be distributed across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, providing thousands of schoolgirls with essential menstrual hygiene support and helping them stay in school with dignity and confidence.
