INTRODUCTION:
A sensitization session on the Nigeria Identity Project, also known as "_7 for 7 by 7_", was held today for NYSC members in Lokoja. The program focused on rebuilding national consciousness through Nigeria's core values and national promises, aligning with the National Orientation Agency's value reorientation campaign. This comprehensive framework is designed to foster positive transformation and national development.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TALK:
The speaker, Mr. Aroniyo Afebisola, outlined the framework of the "_7 for 7 by 7_" initiative:
- The 7 Core Values expected of citizens:
1. Discipline
2. Integrity
3. Dignity of Labour
4. Social Justice
5. Religious Tolerance
6. Self-Reliance
7. Patriotism
These values are crucial for building a strong and harmonious nation.
- The 7 Promises the nation owes its citizens:
1. Equality
2. Democracy
3. Entrepreneurship & Employment
4. Peace & Security
5. Inclusivity
6. Freedom & Justice
7. Meritocracy
Embracing these values is expected to bring significant positive changes in communities, such as reduced corruption, improved public service delivery, and enhanced national unity.
- The 7 Key Drivers: Institutions/sectors are also charged with promoting these values, targeting vital sectors like governance, education, health, economy, security, environment, and social welfare.
PARTICIPATION & ENGAGEMENT:
NYSC members actively participated in the discussion, focusing on practicing these values during their service year and beyond. The session was documented with pictures.
CONCLUSION:
The session reinforced the need for value-based citizenship and active participation in nation-building. Participants were encouraged to become ambassadors of the "_7 for 7 by 7_" initiative in their places of primary assignment and communities.
