AIG Tunji Disu Launches Feedback Channel To Address Complaints Against Officers and receive Commendation.

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Lagos, under the leadership of AIG Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has launched a Feedback Channel to receive complaints and commendations on officersโ€™ conduct.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer, Force CID Annex, Lagos, ASP Aminat Maiyegun encouraged members of the public to share concerns or positive feedback via the official channels below:

๐Ÿ“ž 07068865833 | 08067167605
๐Ÿ“ง [email protected]

Maiyegun said the feedback of the public would help to promote accountability and professionalism.

AIG Disu, who recently took over at the Force CID Annex Lagos, is a renowned police operational officer with a hands-on approach to policing and administration.

He had previously served as the Commander of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) with outstanding records of reforms that transformed the security outfit.

He adopted an open-door policy through which members of the public can directly contact him and be free to share confidential information.

With the feedback channel, members of the public can be assured of professionalism in handling both complaints and commendation on Force CID officers.

REPORT ON ISMAIL MUFUTAU ALLEGED ROBBERY CASE

Recall that, NBA Ikorodu Branch (Legal Aid Committee) in partnership with IKODASS rendered free legal advice for six weeks and follow-up representation in court for indigents arrested during the EndSars Protest in October, 2020 one of whom is Ismail Mufutau in Suit No: Y/A/ES/20/2020.

On the 5th of November, 2020, the Directorate of Public Prosecution Lagos State issued a legal advice that Ismail Mufutau be prosecuted for the offences of Conspiracy to commit Robbery and Armed Robbery contrary to Section 299 and 297 (2)(a) of the Criminal Law, Ch. C17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Since then, no information was filed to enable his arraignment at the High Court until we filed a Fundamental Rights suit on the 30th October, 2023 challenging his unlawful incarceration.

Promptly after the process was served, the DPP filed an information against Ismail on the 20th February, 2024 in Suit no: ID/23 609C/2024 and the accused was consequently arraigned before Hon. Justice Ogala of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja (Criminal Division).

I'm thrilled to report that Ismail Mufutau (one of the Endsars detainee) has been discharged from the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre after over four years behind bars.

We've taken up the case of one Ayo Balogun also an Endsars victim, who is currently incarcerated at the Kirikiri Medium Correctional Centre, a detailed report will be released as we progress.

PSC CHAIR WARNS AGAINST POLICE INVOLVEMENT IN LAND, RENT AND MARITAL MATTERS SAYS IT WILL HENCEFORTH AFFECT THEIR PROMOTION; ANNOUNCES JOINT OVERSIGHT OF POLICE RECRUITMENT

Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd, mni, has warned that serving Police Officers who are found involved in civil matters such as land, rent and marital disputations will henceforth be sanctioned and their promotions suspended.

DIG Argungu noted that the failure of the Police will obviously be the failure of the Commission and said the Commission will no longer condone serious abuse of Office by serving Officers. He said Police Officers should stay clear of civil matters and allow the Civil courts to do their duties.

He spoke when he received in audience a delegation from the Justice Research Institute led by Mr. Ade Ipaye.

The PSC Chairman declared that he will run a transparent, open and corrupt free administration in the Commission stressing that all funds received by the Commission and spent must be accounted for stressing " I will never spare thieves wherever I am. We are here to assist the Government fight corruption ".

"I come to work before 8am and I am the last person to leave the office, that is leadership, I have not changed and will never change; I know that leadership is everything. My mandate is not to come here to embezzle money, I must ensure transparency and openness and I will fight to the last."

DIG Argungu assured the visiting team that the Commission will partner with them in the area of training so that staff of the Commission will be exposed to local and international trainings.

Mr. Ipaye expressed his happiness that they have a partner in the PSC Chairman who wants to fight corruption adding that transparency in government has always been a rare commodity.

He said they were in the Commission to assist drive its Constitutional mandate to improve the workings of the Police.
He said they will provide opportunities for the staff of the Commission to be trained to understand their role as a supervisory body of the Nigeria Police Force. " We will ensure that the PSC is trained and that the staff are good enough to discharge its statutory disciplinary functions".

The PSC Chairman had earlier at a Staff Management Meeting announced the setting up of a Joint Oversight of Recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force. This he said is to ensure a seamless and transparent recruitment process.

The PSC Chairman and the Inspector General of Police according to him will jointly oversee the recruitment process.

He also announced the establishment of Police Recruitment Secretariat at the Police Service Commission headquarters. The Secretariat he said would serve as the central hub for coordinating all recruitment activities, ensuring communication, proper documentation, and efficiency across all stages of the process.

He noted that the portal for recruitment to be accessible for the stakeholders will be domiciled at the Commission's Corporate Headquarters.
