MSSN@69: Six + Nine Things You Should Know About MSSNLagos
Here are 1️⃣5️⃣ (6 + 9) things about the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos State Area Unit as its celebrates 69 years of existence:
1️⃣ The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) is a non-profit organisation that represents the interests of Muslim students in Nigeria.
2️⃣ The organisation was established in 1954, and since then it has grown to become one of the largest student organisations in Nigeria.
3️⃣ Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit is the oldest, most active, most vibrant and most promising Area Unit in the country.
4️⃣The organisation has a diverse membership, which includes students from primary schools, secondary schools, universities, other tertiary institutions and young adults.
5️⃣The MSSN Lagos State Area Unit provides a range of services to its members, including educational and spiritual guidance, counseling, and welfare support.
6️⃣The organisation is involved in a variety of activities, including Usrah, public lectures, seminars, workshops, and conferences, aimed at educating Muslim students on issues related to their faith and society.
7️⃣The MSSN Lagos State Area Unit is the organiser of the famous also known as Lagos Qur'an Competition biennially held in honour of the late Alhaji Lateef Adegbite, CON who was the first president of MSSN.
8️⃣The organisation is actively involved in charitable work, providing assistance to the needy, and supporting humanitarian causes, part of which is its Iftar5000 event.
9️⃣The MSSN Lagos State Area Unit has 45 Area Council, 47 Central Branches, and 23 Higher Institutions (under COHI), which are responsible for overseeing different aspects of the organisation's activities.
🔟The organisation elects its executive cabinet, which is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the MSSN Lagos State Area Unit, through a shurah system. A Cabinet member is expected to serve three years single term and may be re-elected.

1️⃣2️⃣ The MSSN Lagos State Area Unit is funded through donations from its members, as well as through grants and other forms of support from philantropists, non-governmental organisations and rarely government.
1️⃣3️⃣ Saheed Ashafa is the first serving Amir of MSSNLagos to bag PhD while in office followed by his successor, Miftahudeen Thanni.
1️⃣4️⃣ MSSNLagos was at the forefront of hijab struggle in Lagos State assisted by MULAN and other Islamic organisations.
1️⃣5️⃣ MSSN Lagos holds the largest Islamic camp (December Islamic Vacation Course - IVC) in the state annually at Human Capital Development Centre, Epe.
