On behalf of the leadership and members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Branch, we sincerely appreciate Hon. Seyi Jakande, the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, for the generous end-of-year gift of bounty live chickens to the youths of our LCDA.

NYCN ODI-OLOWO/OJUWOYE LOCAL BRANCH PARTICIPATES IN “STEPS FOR SUSTAINABILITY” FITNESS WALK

Saturday, November 22, 2025

Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Branch, led by the Branch Coordinator, Comrade Okeyale Zakaria, today joined the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Honourable Seyi Jakande (HEWA) , for the popular fitness walk tagged “Steps for Sustainability”.

The energetic walk, which has entered its fourth consecutive season, commenced promptly at 7:00 AM from the Council Secretariat along Coker Road, ilupeju, with hundreds of residents, youth leaders, political stakeholders, and council officials in attendance.

Speaking during the flag-off, Comrade Okeyale Zakaria praised Hon. Seyi Jakande for sustaining the fitness programme despite challenges, noting that it reflects the Chairman’s deep commitment to promoting healthy living and community unity. He charged participants to display true sportsmanship, maintain peace, and actively engage so that the goals of fitness, bonding, and sustainable development can be achieved.

While the fitness walk is on going, the NYCN members and other participants joined the Chairman on a guided tour of several transformational projects executed within his first 100 days in office. Among the projects inspected were:

- Extensive rehabilitation and construction of several roads across the LCDA, improving accessibility and easing transportation for residents.
- Construction of a modern Primary Healthcare Centre equipped to deliver quality and affordable healthcare services to the people.
- Ongoing development of a Mini Sports Stadium designed specifically for the youth, providing a safe space for sports, recreation, and talent development.

These projects, among many others, are clear demonstrations of Hon. Seyi Jakande’s people-centred HEWA Agenda – Healthy Living, Empowerment, Welfare, and Accountability with the ultimate goal of service to the people and prosperity for all.

The youth coordinator described the projects as “a new dawn for Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye”, emphasizing that the Chairman is deliberately investing in infrastructure that directly benefits the youth and the larger community.

The Executives, management, and members of NYCN Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Branch, under the leadership of Comrade Okeyale Zakariyah, paid a congratulatory visit to the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, in honour of his remarkable achievements within his first 100 days in office. During the visit, the Coordinator presented a special frame and a roll-up flex banner highlighting the Chairman’s outstanding milestones within the period.

In the presence of the NYCN Lagos State Chairman, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan MNSE, Hon. Jakande was officially branded and decorated as the Grand Patron of the Local Branch, in accordance with the provisions of the NYCN constitution.

The National Association of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Tertiary Students (NAOTS), an affiliate body of the NYCN Local Branch, was also in attendance. Members of NAOTS joined in celebrating the Chairman’s successful 100 days in office and presented him with a gift to commemorate the occasion.

As a show of appreciation and fulfillment of campaign promise, Hon. Seyi Jakande exclusively allocated a Secretariat office for the local branch.

We celebrate and felicitate with Hon. Prince Adeyemi Lateef Akinsemoyin on your appointment as the Director General of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Transportation and Environmental Corps.

Hon. Akinsemoyin, former Supervisor for Environment, has always shown capacity, dedication and commitment to community service. He also participated in our “Make Room for Life” clean-up exercise at Olateju on 21st September, 2024.

We wish him a successful tenure and greater achievements ahead.

Members of the NYCN Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Branch were in attendance at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development Police & Youth Dialogue held at ASSBIFI Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

The event was graced by the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Lagos State and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State. It was an engaging, educative and impactful dialogue session aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Nigeria Police and the youth constituency in Lagos State.

During the session, the Lagos CP enlightened us on our rights as citizens, the proper conduct expected from police officers, and the available channels for reporting misconduct. He further demonstrated commitment to accountability by personally providing his contact number for direct reporting if necessary.

The NYCN Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Branch appreciates this initiative as a positive step towards enhancing trust, communication and safer community policing in Lagos State.
