Accord candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has presented his manifesto to the Owa Afole of Otan-Ile, Oba Michael Tolulope Aderogba Adetona Adeyanju II, during a courtesy visit to the Otan-Ile palace, according to a statement by Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, spokesperson for the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO).
Olajengbesi, who was accompanied by members of his campaign team and party leaders, said the visit was part of the campaign's ongoing consultations with traditional rulers across the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said he came to formally present his manifesto, seek the monarch's blessings and assure the town of pro-people representation.
The manifesto, he said, focuses on sponsoring meaningful bills, youth empowerment, quality education, rural infrastructure and attracting federal presence to the constituency. He added that it was developed after months of engagement with young people, women, artisans and community leaders.
According to the candidate, the people of Oriade/Obokun need a representative who will not only speak for them in Abuja but also live among them and provide practical solutions to everyday challenges.
"We cannot claim to represent the people without first honouring our traditional institution. Kabiyesi is the father to all of us in Otan-Ile. We are here to tell you what we want to do and to ask you to bless this journey. Our promise is simple: a pro-people, accessible and accountable representation," Olajengbesi said.
Responding on behalf of the monarch, the Obanla of Otan-Ile, High Chief Ayeni Isiaka, commended the candidate for respecting tradition and taking his campaign to the palaces. He described Olajengbesi as a successful lawyer and a humble, brilliant young man with a record of public service.
High Chief Isiaka offered royal prayers for the success of his ambition and urged him to remain steadfast, humble and faithful to his promises if elected.
Chiefs, women leaders, youths and Accord supporters were present at the palace to receive the candidate.
