My heart raced with the same anxiety I felt on the field, but this time, the opponent was my own body. The doctors' words echoed in my ears, threatening to sideline me from a game I loved and a life I was just beginning to live. But what could have been the end of my story became the beginning of something far greater.

​My battle was not just for myself; it was for every child who would face a similar struggle. I had been given a second chance, and I knew I had to use it to give others their first. So, I founded the Kanu Heart Foundation. ​It's a promise I made to myself and to them. Every day, I witness the incredible strength of these children and their families. Their hope fuels my mission. This isn't just about saving lives; it's about giving back futures. My journey from the pitch to this promise has taught me that true victory isn't measured in trophies, but in the number of hearts we help to heal.
