Episode 15

Bankole and his wife embarked on a three days fasting and prayer. At first, it looks like something they couldn't do but Bankole kept praying to God for grace. When it looks like strength was failing them, the Holy spirit told them to take water so that they would be able to pray.

On the third day, an unusual anger came upon Eliana, she was angry in her spirit and that made her pray with so much anger. After they prayed, Bankole made decrees over his wife and anointed her while Eliana did the same for him.

Exhausted from long hours of prayer, the couple decided to take a nap to get strength to pray at midnight. Immediately Eliana closed her eyes to sleep, she met herself at the back of her Uncle's compound where she was tied while her aunty and two other women stood there laughing at her.

She suddenly called the name of Jesus and an angel with a sword appeared. He began cutting the rope with the sword in his hand when Eliana's aunty tried to interrupt. The angel slapped her aunty and she lost her voice immediately. The two other women seeing what had happened to their leader ran away. The angel loosed Eliana and told her to go.

Eliana woke up screaming and crying. Bankole woke up almost immediately and asked why she was in tears. Eliana explained the content of the dream to him and they both began to sing songs of praise to the Lord for the great deliverance He gave to them.

The following Monday after the three days prayer and fasting, Bankole went with his wife to her shop and for the first time in months, Eliana made great sales. At a point, she tried to figure out where this people had been all these while until a customer claimed that she had never seen Eliana's shop until that morning.

It was then it made sense to Eliana, people had been passing by her shop but they weren't seeing her. Another person claimed all he had been seeing was a closed shop. This revelation made Eliana teary that she had to stylish wipe the tears that threaten to fall from her face.

For thirty years, she suffered and struggled simply because someone was trying to prevent her from fulfilling God's purpose. Eliana was so grateful to God for revealing the source of her problem because if he hadn't, she would still be praying amiss.

Two days later, Bankole received a call from his elder brother. At first, he was afraid to pick upon remembering how he pulled out of the family company to go start a company with his friend who ended up sidelining him. Bankole finally decided to pick his brother's call after his wife encouraged him to do.

Bankole: Good morning, egbon mi.

Lucas: Why didn't you pick at the first ring?

Bankole: I am sorry egbon, I....

Lucas: Your position at the company is still available. You can resume on Monday.

Bankole: What??

Lucas: I was angry when you pulled out of the company but then, I can never forget your labour. You came into the family company when it began to collapse because of Dad's promiscuity and you help rebuild it. To be honest, that company is doing well today because of you.

Bankole: (fell on his knees and couldn't stop tearing up) Egbon mi, I don't know what to say.

Lucas: You are a genius and I know you are capable of taking the company to the next height. So, little brother, see you on Monday.

Bankole: Thank you so much sir.

Lucas: I think that should go to my wife. She has refused to let me be until I bring you back to the company.

Bankole: I will come visiting this weekend to properly appreciate her. Thank you very much Egbon, my regards to your wife and children.

Lucas: My regards to your wife, too.

Immediately the call ended, Bankole began to dance in appreciation to God for restoring all that he had lost.

His father was a billionaire when he was alive, he had companies all over the country but all of a sudden his business began to crumble because of his extra-marital affairs. When it looks like everything their father suffered to build was going down the drain, Bankole stepped in and with God by his side, he was able to savage the situation. Though it took him almost three years, things finally got better but he lost his father to a sexually transmitted disease.

ELIANA by Olowojesiku Deborah IyanuOluwa,

Episode 16.

Bankole resumed work and immediately he stepped into the company, thinks took an upward turn. He got ideas on how to run the company better and once those ideas get executed, things got better. Lucas, upon seeing how better the running of the company had become, was grateful to God for his wife who didn't let him be until he brought his younger brother back.

Within two months after Bankole's return, the company secured ten contracts which increased the company's financial value and customer base. In a bid to appreciate Bankole for a job well done, Lucas increased his brother's salary by making it three times what he was earning before.

As Bankole was excelling in his career, Eliana's business was also doing well. Her customer base increased within three months which made her employ someone.

Things began to fall into place for the company and they were so grateful to God. The first three years of their marriage wasn't something they would forget in a hurry but in all, they blessed God for bringing them out and setting their feet on the solid rock. Immediately things got better for them, Bankole's friends suddenly begin to remember him. He accepted their apology and forgave them but kept them at arm's length. He learned his lesson in a hard way and wasn't ready to make another costly mistake. He drew closer to God and made his wife his best friend.

________________

Bankole who was working on a document suddenly picked up his cellphone to check what message came into his phone. He became curious when the discovered the message was from their family doctor. He remembered the doctor promised to send him his wife's test result. Eliana fell sick some days ago and although, she attributed it to business stress, he insisted she go to their family hospital to run a test in order to know what was wrong.

Bankole screamed after coming face to face with the content of the message. The message explained all that has been happening to his wife. The tiredness, unusual sleeping, vomiting, loss of appetite and headache.

Lucas, whose office was opposite his brother's had to stop what he was doing to check if all was well with his brother.

Lucas: I heard your scream, hope all his well?

Bankole: (jumped on his brother before realising what he had done) Ohh, I am sorry.

Lucas: Tell me about it.

Bankole: Dr Morgan sent me a pregnancy result. My wife is eight weeks pregnant and to think, it never crossed our minds even though she had been sick.

Lucas: Wow! Congratulations! I am so happy for you.

Bankole: I think I will have to go home now.

Lucas: That's not a problem but when will you inform mom?

Bankole: Not anytime soon.

Lucas: It's obvious you are still very angry with her. You need to let sleeping dogs lie.

Bankole: It is one thing not to love and accept my wife but going to the extent of destroying my home is something I won't accept. So, it's better everyone stay on his or her lane.

Lucas: I won't accept that. With the way things are going, your children may end up not knowing their grandmother.

Bankole: Whatever.

Lucas: I will be visiting Mom this weekend, I need to have a discussion with her.

Bankole: See you tomorrow, big brother.

Lucas: My regards to your wife.

Bankole drove Eliana's shop happily, he couldn't wait to break the beautiful news to his wife whom he knew had been trusting God for their own children. On getting to her shop but was told she had gone home to rest then, he drove to the house and rushed in almost immediately with great joy running through him.

Bankole: (screamed the moment he got into the room) Babe, we are pregnant.

Eliana (burst into laughter) You and who?

Bankole: Come on, I am being serious. Dr Morgan sent me your test results this morning. You are eight weeks pregnant and I am super sure that you are carrying twins.

Eliana: (wrapped her hands around her stomach)Are you being serious right now?

Bankole: (placed her hands on her stomach) Yes babe, my babies are growing in your womb.

Eliana: Oh my! I didn't even know. I have been too busy to notice that I had missed my period.

Bankole: Congratulations to us.

Eliana: Thank You, Jesus. I have been waiting for this.

Bankole: What we have been waiting for has finally come to pass. Our bundle of joy is here.

Episode 13

Eliana: Even though she is trying to feel herself, I won't dispute the fact that Toun is a sweet soul. At God's instruction, she took me in, fed me and gave me a shoulder to lean on. When life made no sense, she was my safe space. My prayer is that the Lord will settle you on every side.

Toun: Amen and Amen.

Bankole: Why am I hearing Moses? Toun, did you know any Moses?

Toun: Hmmm, yes but.....

Bankole: But what??

Toun: He proposed but I just can't bring myself to say yes to him.

Eliana: Why?

Toun: I am afraid, what if he doesn't show up at the altar? What if he isn't real? What if...

Bankole: You don't need to be afraid of anything. All you need to do is to go to God in prayer and whatever the Lord says should form your decision.

Eliana: The fact that we have been disappointed by people shouldn't make us close our hearts forever. If we do so, we wouldn't know when the one sent to help us would pass us by.

Bankole: The Lord has been trying to talk to you about Moses but you haven't been listening. Please, listen to what the Lord has to say. If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that God wouldn't lead His children into destruction.

Toun: Hmm, I will. Thank you.

The trio ate and discussed a lot of things then, they prayed and Toun left for her house. For the first time in his life, Bankole's eyes were opened to what it means to have a friend who is godly. That day, he made up his mind to keep friends who the Lord approve.

Three months later, Bankole was led to establish his wife in business while he continues to search for a job. He took out his savings and together, they searched for a location where business thrive, secured a spot and stock the shop with fabrics and fashion items. Eliana's joy knew no bounds as her dream of having her own business finally came to realisation.

That night, she went on her knee to appreciate her husband and prayed for him from the bottom of her heart. She couldn't contain her joy as everything happened so fast which made it looked like it was a dream.

___________

Bankole came back home one evening looking so exhausted. He had gone for an interview and left the house without having breakfast, all he desired was to be greeted by a plate of delicious food. As soon as he stepped into the house, he went straight to the dining area but when there was no sign of food, he proceeded to the kitchen only to be greeted by the empty pots. He sighed and dragged himself into the room, the only thing that would make his wife not to have prepare dinner is the lack of all that is needed to make a good meal. Eliana isn't known with starving her husband.

On getting into the room, he met his wife in tears. Immediately she became aware of his presence, she wiped her tears and rose to welcome him but it was too late as he had seen her tears.

Eliana: I wanted to prepare dinner but I...I...I (burst into tears)

Bankole: It's alright. You don't have to cry, please.

Eliana: But is something truly wrong with me? Look, I haven't made any sales since my shop was opened. I know you invested so much in that shop so that it will sustain us till you get a good job but here we are hungry and broke. At this point, I think there is more to this or am I truly a witch?

Bankole: You are not a witch. And I know everything would be alright. Things may not be the way they should but I don't doubt what God told me about your business. It will flourish and take us to greater heights, so, calm down dear.

Eliana: But when? Don't you think there is more to this? I managed to get someone to make her dress and guess what she did when I went to deliver the dress.

Bankole: What?

Eliana: She appreciated me for a job well done, collected the dress and said she would make payment whenever she has the money. Like, is that normal at all? When I tried to protest, she claimed she had no intention of making any dress but my constant talk made her give me the dress to make.

Bankole: You know you shouldn't have done that. That's not how to run a business, you need to set a standard for how people would treat you.

Eliana: I was just frustrated, I just needed money to get foodstuffs.

Bankole; it's alright. All will be well.

Eliana: I think we need to pray. There is more to this, there is something we need to know.

Bankole: Relax babe, all would be well. The Lord will definitely restore all that we have lost. I just believe we are in a phase and when the Lord is done with us, He will turn things around. Meanwhile, my elder brother sent me some money this morning so, let stock the house with food. If there is one thing I am sure of, we would never be stranded.

Eliana: Amen but I still insist we pray about this oh.

Bankole: I have heard you mummy. We haven't stopped praying and we won't.

Eliana got some money from her husband and dashed to a nearby market to get some foodstuffs and then return home to prepare dinner. While she went about doing her thing, she couldn't get over the fact that there was something the Lord wanted them to know. She knew her husband was trying to stop her from getting worried but then, she couldn't stop asking the Lord to open their eyes to what they needed to know so that they would be able to pray the right prayer.

After having dinner, Bankole picked up his Bible to study when a burden to pray came upon him. He hadn't prayed for ten minutes when the Holy Spirit began to speak to Him.

Holy Spirit: One mistake God's children make is not asking God questions when things do not go the way they ought. Things aren't going well with you and you didn't deem it fit to ask the necessary questions.

Episode 11

Bankole's P.O.V

I fell on the floor the moment I got into my house. It was indeed a day filled with surprises. While on the floor, I couldn't stop tearing up. I realised I had been believing a lie, little wonder, Kelvin whom we started a company together was able to kick me out of the company after I invested my inheritance. I had trusted too much.

I wished I had allowed the Holy Spirit influence my choice of friends. I wished I had seen them for who they truly were rather than get carried away by their sugarcoated mouth. I was still weeping when the Holy Spirit came to me.

Holy Spirit: Why did you do what you did today?

Me: I did a lot of things today.

Holy Spirit: Why on earth did you beat Charles up? Is that how we fight battles in this Kingdom?

Me: I know I shouldn't have done that but my emotions got the better part of me. It's just hurt to realise that those I call friends are actually enemies. I am sorry, Lord.

Holy Spirit: Yes, It hurt but let the Lord fight this battle. You cannot prevail by the arm of flesh.

Me: At this point, I surrender all to you. I don't think I have the strength for all of these. I just want to get back on my feet.

Holy Spirit: What about your wife?

Me: I have decided to let her be until the Lord works on her.

Holy Spirit: Have you asked the Lord to speak to her?

Me: Not at all.

Holy Spirit: What people don't realise is that constantly asking the Lord to speak to their spouse goes a long way. It makes things easier in their relationship and marriage. Since Eliana seems not to want to listen to you, the right thing is to ask the Lord to speak to her.

Me: Hmm, thank You, Holy Spirit. I will do the needful.

Holy Spirit: One more thing, you would go back to Charles and apologize to him.

Me: What???

Right there, I began to pray for my wife. I prayed that the Lord would touch her heart and make her see reasons why we should give our home another chance.

________________________________________________

Two days after Bankole came to the house, Eliana suddenly felt restless. She tried to understand what could be the cause but couldn't place it. She rose to her feet, walked to the table, picked her Bible and opened it. She found herself in the chapter talking about Jesus' encounter with the woman of Samaria who came to the wall to fetch water.

As she read on, the question Jesus asked the woman stayed with her. She tried to take it off her mind but it was difficult.

Holy Spirit: Where is your husband?

Eliana: I don't know.

Holy Spirit: Why do you think your prayers seem to have gone unanswered for months? You have been praying but it seems Heaven is shut, have you bothered to ask why?

Eliana: Holy Spirit, please. My heart is aching already.

Holy Spirit: Your prayers will not receive answers until you are in alliance with your husband. As long as both of you remain apart, Heaven won't attend to your case.

Eliana: (trying to wipe her tears) What am I supposed to do? Bankole offended me greatly.

Holy Spirit: Go back to your husband. Yes, he offended you but now that he has realised his mistake and he is ready to make things right, don't withhold your forgiveness. You are ignorant of the devil's devices because you haven't been asking me questions. I am called your helper for a reason but you haven't asked me for help. You keep trying to do life all by yourself. When will you begin to seek my help?

Eliana: Haa, Holy Spirit, please, help me. I can't do life all by myself.

Holy Spirit: When you brought the issue of your husband's predicament to the Lord, there was an immediate answer but when the devil saw the great compensation coming your husband's way, he began to sow a seed of disunity. You suddenly began to hear people say you are the cause of his predicament and you began to harbour negative thoughts against your husband which worsened your situation.

Eliana: Jesus!

Holy Spirit: You were offering prayers to God for your husband with a heart already nursing bitterness. You stayed with him irrespective of how things were but you carried unhappiness all around. What you don't know is that your husband won't be able to achieve much the moment you choose to remain angry with him and the plan of the devil is to ensure you remain unhappy with him till frustration leads your husband into committing su***de.

Eliana: No way! That would never happen to my husband. Have mercy on me, Lord.

Holy Spirit: Have you wondered why it looks like your womb has been locked?

Eliana: No

Holy Spirit: Your marriage has been chosen to raise children whom the Lord is set to use to cause revival in the world. The devil doesn't know this but senses something about your union and has decided to destroy your home. Will you join hands with the devil to destroy your home?

Eliana: (began to put some of her things in a bag) Not at all. Infact, I am going back home. I am going back to my husband.

Holy Spirit: Bankole is feeling weak and frustrated, death is looming around him. Don't let the devil bring him down.

Eliana: That would never happen. Thank You, Holy Spirit. Please, don't stop coming to my aid.

Holy Spirit: Simply call me when you need my help. I am always here.

Eliana placed a call through to Toun explaining that she needed to go somewhere and then dashed out of the house. Immediately she stepped out of the gate, she stopped a bike which took her home. Upon reaching her destination, she paid the bike man and hurried into their apartment. She walked in and was shocked to see her husband lying on the couch shivering. It was obvious he had been sick and there was no one to attend to him.

With tears streaming down her face, she knelt beside him and held him. Bankole was shocked to see her as she was the last person on his mind.

Eliana: Babe....

Bankole: (burst into tears) You came....

Eliana: Yes, and I am here to stay. You are my husband and my place is with you.

Bankole: Thank you, I will never do anything hurt you again.

Eliana: Please, reserve your strength. Let's get you to the hospital.

Bankole: I ran some tests already and I am currently on medications. I just haven't been able to get something to eat. I bought foodstuffs but I haven't been able to cook anything.

Eliana: I will be right back please.

Eliana dashed into her kitchen and the first thing she saw was an image of her. She couldn't helped but smile as she remembered the day her husband hung her picture on the wall saying the kitchen was her first office.

Eliana remembered what brought her into the kitchen and quickly got to work. She made the food with so much love and joy in her heart while appreciating God for opening her eyes to things she was ignorant of.

Episode 12.

Eliana fed her husband with the delicious meal she made and then helped him into the room so that he would get a proper sleep.

As soon as he fell asleep, Eliana sat beside him staring at his face when her face fell on a small diary. Curiosity got the better part of her and she picked it up. She went through it saw that it contained notes written by her husband. While she read through, she found herself shedding tears. She was about to close the diary and lay beside her husband to get some sleep when one of the writeups caught her attention.

"Eliana made my life beautiful, she gives me peace that I can't comprehend. She is such a selfless prayer warrior as she prays more for me than she prays for herself. Eliana is indeed Heaven's gift to me and I won't let anything steal her away from me not even my friends and family who believe she is the one behind all that has befallen me. I love you, Eliana, together, we would make heaven proud and yes, we will be wealthy again with our children as cornerstones polished after the similitude of a palace."

Eliana closed the diary and broke down in tears. All along, Bankole never saw her as the one behind his predicament. Even in the midst of the life situations, he saw her as a blessing while she went about with bitterness in her heart. She kept fasting and praying with pain and anger in her heart, how would prayers from a bitter heart receive answers?

Tired of crying, Eliana laid beside her husband and slept off. She woke up some hours later vibrating as she had a terrifying dream. While trying to remember the content of the dream, her husband who had woken up earlier, walked into the room and was surprised to see her vibrating.

Bankole: Sweet? What's the matter?

Eliana: I had a dream and it's....

Bankole: Calm down dear, breathe in and breathe out. Do you remember the content of the dream?

Eliana: Yes, we were both before a judge who was to give us some gifts. He was about to hand it over to us and suddenly, a huge dark man came over and stopped him with the claim that we don't deserve those gifts. When we tried to counter him, he told the judge to look at the numerous stains on our white garments. The judge saw the stains, withdrew the gifts and walked away with unhappiness written all over his face.

Bankole: Jesus! That's a deep one. We couldn't get God's blessing because our life isn't right with God.

Eliana: Have mercy on us, Jesus.

Bankole: The Holy Spirit just said disunity is the weapon that the devil has been using to prevent couples from receiving God's blessings. It doesn't start when couples fight physically rather, it starts with that little offenses, bitterness and hurt.

Eliana: Haaa God, show us mercy. So, we have been the one hindering God's blessings.

Bankole: Exactly, my dear. I think our problem is communication. You wouldn't have believed I had anything to do with Kiishi if I had communicated my encounter at the hotel to you.

Eliana: I wouldn't have harboured bitterness in my heart if I had asked you questions about being termed the cause of your predicament. I was bitter because I thought you felt that way. I thought you left me because of that claim.

Bankole: I never saw you as the cause of my predicament. All I experienced was as a result of my bad choice. I chose friends who never loved me.

Eliana: Communication would have saved us from a lot.

Bankole: Henceforth, we would be intentional about telling each other every thing even though it looks insignificant.

Eliana: We have to so that we would be able to stand up for each other when the enemy tries to raise a storm.

Bankole: Meanwhile, let's cry to God for mercy.

With hands joined together, the couple went on their knees and prayed to God for mercy. That evening, they prayed like never before and after some hours, they sensed a changed in the atmosphere of their home. Bankole's eyes got opened and he saw a demon walked out of their house while an angel walked in. He explained what he saw to his wife and they switched to singing songs of praises to God.

________________________________________________

Toun visited the couple during the end of the week and was happy to see Eliana's head on Bankole's lap. Despite the fact that she misses Eliana's presence and companionship, she was happy their prayer of many months were finally answered and Eliana was back to her husband. She was overjoyed when she saw the glow on Eliana's face.

Toun: Thank God say i no dey too put mouth for married people fight. The same Eliana who vowed never to have anything to do with Bankole again is here laying her head on his lap. Married people eh!

Eliana: Abeg! Abeg!

Bankole: Abeg free my wife oh. Let her enjoy her husband oh. She don too suffer.

Toun: Yes oh. Should I talk about the nights she couldn't sleep because of you? This babe cried ehn.

Eliana: Toun!

Toun: Let me talk abeg. See, you will pay me for always consoling your wife.

Episode 10.

Eliana's P.O.V

The persistent knock on the door woke me up that Saturday morning. Since it was weekend, I decided to spend more time on bed to be able to get quality rest but this plan of mine was cut short by whoever decided to knock till he or she gets into the house.

I finally dragged myself out of bed and went to answer the door only to see Bankole at the door. At that point, I didn't know if I should be angry or not and before I could think of shutting the door in his face, he pushed the door and walked in.

Bankole: (fell on his knees) Babe, please, listen to my side of the story.

Me: There is nothing to listen to. You have chosen the part that seems best and I wish you well. I have also decided to make something meaningful out of my life. I'm still trusting God for directions; if going our separate ways will be our final resort, I will gladly accept it.

Bankole: No! That's never going to happen. Please, I am very sorry for everything.

Eliana: Really? Did you think about us when you decided to impregnate another woman?

Bankole: Come of it, babe. I didn't do it. That lady is obsessed with me and she is looking for ways to tear us apart. Babe, please, don't let us give the devil a chance.

Eliana: You gave the devil a chance when you decide to travel out of the country without saying a word to me. You gave the devil a chance when you agreed with your friends that I am the one behind your predicament. See, I am no longer interested in this union.

Bankole: I know leaving without a word wasn't something I should have done but I never accepted that you were the one behind my predicament.

Eliana: Really? You think I wouldn't hear right? Your friend, Charles told me everything. How you both went to a Pastor who told you that I am the one behind your predicament and advised you to travel out of the country.

Bankole: (shocked) What? Charles?

Eliana: And just because I went to him for financial help, he almost took advantage of me. Enough please, stand up and go to your house. When I have enough money, I will begin to work on the divorce so that you can be allowed to marry who your mother wants.

Bankole: That's not happening to us, babe. What I did was wrong but I am here to make things right. I am not giving up on us, Eliana. Our agreement is to be together forever and that's what would happen. As for Charles, he would hear from me.

Eliana: Please, shut the door after you.

I left Bankole in the living room and went back into the bedroom to get some sleep but I couldn't as I kept having flashes of the past. The height of it was the day I was called a witch in the church. I had to stop worshipping in that church because of my soiled reputation.

I know words were flying about already but Bankole's decision made those talebearers believe their claim to be true.

________________________________________________

Bankole's P.O.V

It's so hard to believe my friend and confidant, Charles said all that to my wife and even attempted to take advantage of her. The same Charles who said he discussed my matter with his Pastor and his Pastor's reply was for me to leave my wife because she is cursed and until I leave her, nothing good will ever come out of me

The same Charles informed my three other friends and together, they invited Kiishi over to the hotel we met and told her to seduce me. When I confronted them after pushing Kiishi out of my hotel room, Charles opened up that his Pastor advised him to help me with the claim that my life will have no meaning if Eliana gives me my first child. I walked out of the hotel in anger that evening choosing not to have anything to do with my friends again.

With anger running through me, I decided to go to see Charles in office. I got into his office and launched an attack on him almost immediately. He had sustained injuries as a result of my numerous punches before his colleagues could come to his aid.

Me: So, you told my wife lies about me and try to take advantage of her. You claim to be my friend yet, all you wanted was to get into my wife's pant. You are a disgrace, Charles.

Charles: Who is your friend? I have hated you all along. Life seems to be fair to you while some of us have to struggle.

Me: Wait! Is this jealousy? Are you saying you are trying to destroy me because of your jealousy? Does that mean all you claimed your Pastor said was a lie?

Charles: There was no Pastor, I cooked up everything just to get you to lose your marriage. You should be grateful you have a good wife which many of us don't have. She refused to sleep with me even when I offered her five million naira.

I lost it again and launched another attack on Charles. This time around, his colleague couldn't separate us, it took the intervention of the security officers. I threatened to get Charles and bring him down while I walk out of his office.

My heart was broken beyond repair that night. At that point, I understood when the Holy Spirit said there are things I needed to know.
