In honour of Mother’s Day, we’re spotlighting the efforts of PSHAN through the ADHFP programme in revitalising primary health centres and providing quality care for mothers across Nigeria.

In Uteh Community, Edo State, the revitalisation of a local primary healthcare centre in partnership with has restored more than just a building, it has renewed confidence in the health system and brought essential services closer to families.

Today, women can seek antenatal care without hesitation, get access to routine immunisation for their babies, and mothers can deliver in a safer environment supported by trained health workers.

The future women deserve depends on systems that show up for them in the present.

That includes healthcare that is accessible, trusted, and able to meet women where it matters most.

This International Women’s Day, we stand for that future for every woman and girl. 💪🏽

Women are the heart of every community, and when their health is protected, everyone thrives.

This Women’s Month, we’re reminded that real impact happens when care is accessible where it matters most. Strengthening frontline facilities means safer pregnancies, healthier mothers, stronger families, and communities.

That’s what sustained investment in primary healthcare makes possible.

Let’s keep investing in quality, accessible and affordable care for all.

Every year, millions of Nigerians face the harsh reality of an underfunded health system. When resources don’t reach primary healthcare centres, essential services break down, leaving mothers, children, and patients without care, and forcing healthcare workers to improvise in impossible conditions.

At PSHAN, we are advocating for a system that is fully funded, operational, and accountable, one that delivers real results for every Nigerian. Health is a right, not a privilege, and we will not stop advocating until that right is guaranteed.

Insights from our partner, Mrs. Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director, MTN Foundation at the Securing Futures Conference 2026.

Speaking on integrated health and education solutions for displaced populations, she highlighted a key gap: without a coordinated national strategy, investment will remain limited.

Policy must provide structure, clear incentives and the confidence the private sector needs to engage at scale and deliver sustainable impact.

These are conservations we must continue to drive together.
