Sometimes, the moments that feel like setbacks are actually the moments redirecting us toward growth.

Before joining WAVE, Omodolapo was working as a mobile cashier for a power distribution company, moving from house to house collecting payments. Then came what felt like a breakthrough opportunity, but she was let go just three days after resuming.

Instead of giving up, she applied for the WAVE training program.

Through the employability training, job shadowing, and an internship with the Career Services Department at WAVE, she gained practical workplace experience, career direction, and confidence. Despite falling ill during training, she did not miss a single day.

At graduation, she was awarded Most Improved Student, a reflection of her growth and resilience.

What once felt like a setback became a redirection.

The Customer Service (Zendesk) Training has officially started this week, with participants beginning their journey into learning the basics of Zendesk, Phone Etiquette, ticket creation and management, and the soft skills needed to thrive in customer support and service-related roles.

Through practical sessions and hands-on learning, participants are gaining experience with Zendesk and learning how support teams manage customer interactions, resolve issues efficiently, and deliver better service experiences across different industries.

The training is still ongoing and continues to equip participants with valuable workplace and customer support skills that are increasingly in demand.

We are proud to celebrate the graduation of our very second Solar & Technical Skills Cohort!

Over the past 4 weeks, these incredible young professionals committed themselves to hands-on training and internship opportunities, gaining practical experience in HVAC, Fibre Optics, Electrical & Electronics, and Solar PV Installation & Repair.

But the journey went beyond technical knowledge. Participants also strengthened essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, professionalism, problem-solving, and adaptability, preparing them not just for jobs, but for long-term success.

Today, more than 70% of these graduates have already secured full-time employment offers. Seeing them celebrate this milestone with confidence and excitement was a powerful reminder of what is possible when young people are given the right support and opportunity to grow.

Last week, we officially graduated our first Solar & Technical skills cohort, and these young professionals are stepping into the future equipped with practical skills in: HVAC, Fibre Optics, Electrical & Electronics, and Solar PV Installation & Repair.

But beyond the technical training, they also built the soft skills needed to thrive in the workplace, including communication, teamwork, professionalism, problem-solving, and adaptability.

After dedicating 8 weeks to intense training and internship, many of them now have job offers with full-time employment. On this day, they showed up all smiles and ready to conquer. A solid reminder that young people need access and opportunity to reach their full potential.
