*DID YOU KNOW?*
Did you know that adolescent behavioural development is influenced not only by hormonal changes but also by significant changes in the developing brain?
These changes affect how adolescents regulate their emotions, make decisions, respond to rewards and manage impulses.
So, before you punish or criticise your child, seek to understand first.
Understanding why your child behaved in a particular way does not necessarily mean removing the consequences of their actions. Rather, it helps you respond more thoughtfully, and guide them towards better choices.
What we sometimes interpret as deliberate disobedience may be a child struggling with emotional regulation, lacking the necessary skills, or not understanding the implications of their actions.
This does not mean adolescents should not be held accountable. It means that discipline should be an opportunity for growth not just to punish.
After all, our goal is not just to raise children who fear the consequences of doing wrong, but children who understand *why* certain behaviours are wrong and learn to make better choices, even when no one is watching
Have you ever punished your child for something they did, only to feel bad later when you realised they genuinely didn't know better?
On another note, have you registered your daughter for our upcoming group mentorship session—Dare to be Different: Standing Out without Selling Out?
It's happening on October 31st. If you haven't secured a seat for your precious gem, please do so. May Allah make it beneficial. Aameen.
