Nigeria Association of the Blind, Lagos State Chapter
Announcement: Issue 9
Date: Friday, 20th February 2026
Official Notification: A Call for Calm, Unity, and Progress
To: All Distinguished Members, NAB Lagos Chapter
Season’s Greetings and Spiritual Reflection
As we navigate the month of February, the leadership of the Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB), Lagos State Chapter, extends its warmest greetings to every member.
To our Muslim faithful, we wish you a spiritually fulfilling and blessed Ramadan. To our Christian brothers and sisters, we wish you a grace-filled Lenten season. During this period of fasting, sacrifice, and deep reflection, we pray that the Almighty hears our collective supplications, purifies our hearts, and strengthens our bond as a community. May the discipline of the fast bring us closer to the peace we all seek.
Addressing Recent Disruptions
The State Executive Committee is fully aware of the unfortunate and unruly behavior exhibited by certain expelled and suspended individuals at the NAB Lagos Secretariat on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Their actions not only reflected poorly on their characters but also caused a significant disruption of services to other occupants of the building, most notably the Nigerian Educational Research & Development Council (NERDC). We find this conduct unacceptable. We have built a reputation of excellence and decorum, and we will not allow the "foolishness" of a few to tarnish our standing with our neighbors and partners.
Legal Standing and Leadership Resolve
It is important to remind our members that these individuals have instituted legal action against the NAB National Office. As law-abiding citizens, the NAB Lagos leadership is respecting the judicial process and awaiting the court’s verdict. We advise these aggrieved parties to do the same—to wait for their day in court rather than resorting to public nuisance and theater.
Please be assured that your leadership is firmly in control. We are taking all necessary legal and administrative measures to ensure that such an incident never recurs. The case involving these individuals is being handled decisively and will be brought to a final rest in due course.
Information Integrity and Financial Security
In an era of misinformation, we urge you to remain vigilant:
• Verify Your Sources: Ignore rumors or "fake news" spread by unauthorized individuals.
• Official Channels Only: Only information released by the NAB Lagos Secretariat or the Public Relations Office should be considered authentic and true.
• Resource Management: We want to reassure you that the finances and resources of the Association are secure and are being managed with the utmost transparency and prudence.
Despite these distractions, the Association is making remarkable, steady progress. We are moving forward, not backward.
Looking Ahead: 2026 First Quarterly General Meeting
The plans for 2026 are ambitious and promising. We will shortly announce the date for our First Quarterly General Meeting (QGM) of the year.
This meeting is a "must-attend" for every member. It will be an opportunity to see firsthand the progress we have made and to discuss the strategic roadmap for the remainder of the year. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the positive strides your Association is making.
Stay calm, stay united, and remain focused on our collective growth.
Signed,
The Executive Committee
NAB Lagos State Chapter.
