When women come together, real change happens.
That was the heart of the 5th International Conference for Rural Women. It brought together voices from across Africa to share ideas, experiences and solutions for empowering rural women. Organized by Women’s Board Educational Cooperation Society (ECS) in partnership with Zabalketa, the three-day conference held at Pan-Atlantic University welcomed 70 participants from Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa.

Through panel discussions, working groups, and keynote sessions, participants explored leadership, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and collective action for women’s advancement. Beyond the conference, the ECS–Zabalketa partnership continues to empower rural women across eight communities in Itamapako through leadership training, advocacy, improved water and sanitation, and livelihood skills.

The conversations and connections from these three days reaffirm one thing: when women come together to learn and collaborate, stronger communities are built.

No more barriers.
Not in education.
Not in employment.
Not in leadership.
Not in justice.

As we mark International Women’s Day 2026 under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” we are reminded that equality must move beyond aspiration to implementation.

Removing structural barriers to education and decent work is not only a moral responsibility it is an economic and social imperative. When women and girls have equitable access to skills, opportunity, and protection, institutions grow stronger, industries become more inclusive, and communities thrive.

Progress requires intentional action from policymakers, educators, corporate partners, and civil society.

The call is clear: protect rights, pursue justice, and take action that delivers measurable change.

Service in action 🪖🤝

Uzommiri Study Centre, in collaboration with Bloom Hearts & Hands, carried out the Calabar Service Project—a two-day outreach dedicated to empowering women through practical skills, health awareness, and conversations around safety and dignity.

Over 40 women were reached with mother crafts for income generation, essential health guidance, and education on gender-based violence.

The Calabar Service Project reminded us why service truly matters.

Real needs. Real service. Real impact.

Together, we can build a world where no one is left behind.

Our WCW goes to every young woman whose future will be shaped at Wavecrest! 👩🏽‍🍳🌍❤️

What a day to remember at Wavecrest College of Hospitality as we officially kicked off the journey of the Wavecrest Hospitality Skills & Enterprise Development Centre of Excellence (HSEDCE)

With the support of SIFA (AUDA-NEPAD & KfW) and our amazing partners, this centre will empower 3,000+ young women in just the first 3–5 years — equipping them with hospitality, digital, and entrepreneurial skills to build brighter futures. 💼🙌

The groundbreaking ceremony was packed with energy, hope, and love from our donors, partners, and friends who believe in empowering women and uplifting communities. 💫

International Youth Day at Afara Development Centre.

One of our projects in Lagos, Afara Development Centre, marked International Youth Day with one clear message: youth must take their place at the policy table. 🗣️

From powerful conversations to eye-opening sessions, young people were challenged to move beyond being mere beneficiaries, towards becoming decision-makers, innovators, and advocates for change.

✨ The future belongs to those who show up.
Your voice matters. Your actions count.

Happy World Youth Skills Day🎉✂️🍽️
At Women’s Board Educational Cooperation Society, we believe that skills change stories.

Through our 4 vocational schools, we provide young girls with top-tier hospitality education, preparing them for careers that open doors and build confidence.

Beyond that, our study centres empower even more youths with practical life skills, leadership training, and hands-on crafts, from bag making, tailoring, and soap production to other creative and income-generating skills.

Because when young people are skilled, they don't just survive, they lead, build, and transform communities.

Touching Lives, One Village at a Time 🩺❤️
Abidagba Health Centre brought vital healthcare to Idiru and Odolewu, offering consultations, medications, and health talks for children, the elderly, and families.

In the midst of it all, a young mother of two, critically ill, was identified during a routine check. Thanks to swift care and a timely referral, her life was saved. 💙

This is the power of showing up. Because every life matters.
