President Tinubu Focused on Economic Reforms, Not 2027 Elections

The Presidency has clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not currently focused on the 2027 election but is fully committed to implementing economic policies that will improve the lives of Nigerians.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, emphasized that the president’s priority is the long-term impact of his reforms rather than political maneuvering.

In a Friday night post on his X page, Dare wrote:
"President Tinubu is not worried about the next election. He’s worried about the shared prosperity that he can bring to Nigerians. He’s concerned about how his reforms will yield the necessary impact and what happens to the country’s economy in the long run. That’s his focus."

President Tinubu: Economic Reforms Are for the Future of the Next Generation

On Thursday, March 13, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu explained that his administration's economic reforms are aimed at securing the future of the next generation.

"For 50 years, Nigeria has been spending the money of children yet to be born, while also using fuel to service the West Coast of our subregion. It has become difficult to plan for our children's future," he said.

Speaking at the State House, Abuja, while receiving some of his former National Assembly colleagues from the Third Republic—where he served as Senator for Lagos West—Tinubu acknowledged the challenges his administration faced upon assuming office, particularly in economic and social matters.

"When I took over, we faced serious difficulties—it was not easy at all. If we hadn't taken the necessary actions, Nigeria would have gone bankrupt, and the economy would have collapsed.

"But today, we have built a better foundation. We have reversed the crisis, the exchange rate is stabilizing, and food prices are coming down, especially during this Ramadan period. There is light at the end of the tunnel," Tinubu assured.
