The Rose of Sharon Foundation (RoSF) is an NGO focused on alleviating the plight of widows and orphans. We design and execute programmes that give financial independence and educational opportunities to widows, their children and orphans. A journey that started with three (3) widows on 23rd May, 2008, has amalgamated into a network of almost a thousand widows today. Since inception, RoSF has empow

ered 970 widows – 11 of whom are in university, awarded scholarships to 1,366 widow’s children and 72 orphans. The loans to widows are interest free and the scholarships have no conditions attached. It has also provided accommodation for residential/business purposes for 82 widows. Moreover, we have provided some free healthcare checkups and free legal services to our widows with the support of other agencies. RoSF is in affiliation with Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International, to provide spiritual strengthening through the God we serve, give comfort and encouragement where the opportunity presents itself for the widows, their children, orphans and the neglected in our society. Our board comprises people of integrity, professional excellence and achievement. Our work is produced by faith, our labour prompted by love and endurance inspired by hope.

YEP 2026 was an eye-opener. We had insightful conversations, practical learning, and one thing stood out clearly: AI is not the enemy, it’s a tool. And when used effectively, it can open doors, create opportunities, and shape a more sustainable future.

We are confident that everyone who joined left with a better understanding of how to navigate this evolving space and how to begin applying these insights in their personal and professional journeys.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this session impactful.

Nobody really prepares you for what comes after school. You’re told to get good grades and earn your certificates, but not always how to navigate the real world or build the skills that actually matter.

Now, everything is changing, AI is evolving, industries are shifting, and opportunities exist, but without the right direction, it’s easy to feel stuck and unsure of your next move.

At The Rose of Sharon Foundation, we are creating that starting point. Through YEP 2026, we will be equipping young people with practical AI skills, insights into the circular economy, and the guidance needed to build a sustainable and future-ready career.

This International Women’s Day, we chose to go beyond awareness.

We focused on a critical gap: engaging men not as observers, but as active partners in advancing gender equity.

Through structured community dialogues, including a dedicated male-only session, we created a space for honest reflection on gender roles, cultural expectations, and shared responsibility.

Across two communities:

127 participants engaged
72 men actively involved
Public commitments made to support women and widows

The most important outcome was not attendance.

It was a shift in perspective from “this is how things have always been” to “this is something I can help change.”

Gender equity becomes possible when responsibility is shared.

Balance the scale. Give to gain.
