Have you heard the latest gist? The Lagos State Government is taking some big companies to court because they owe about 1.6 billion Naira in unpaid taxes.

Look, we all want better roads, working hospitals, and good schools for our children, right? But think of it like building a house, if the person supposed to supply the cement doesn't show up, the work stops. That’s exactly what happens when big firms don't pay their taxes.

This move isn't just about the government chasing money; it's about making sure everyone plays by the rules so there's enough in the pot to develop our city. When everyone pays their fair share, it’s a win for all of us.

What do you think? Should the government be even tougher on these big companies?

According to the latest report from the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise CPPE, our economy is finally starting to stand on its own two feet this year. Even though fuel and light are still expensive, the heavy "wahala" of prices jumping every single hour has started to calm down. Inflation is dropping, and our Naira is staying in one place instead of running a race against the Dollar.

It’s like when a heavy rain finally stops; the ground is still wet and muddy, but at least you can start walking again without a shade. We are not fully "there" yet, but the signs show that the worst might be behind us.

Are you seeing any difference in the prices of things in your area lately, or is it still "the more you look, the less you see"? Let’s talk in the comments.

For years, we’ve been hearing about how Nigeria has the biggest gas reserves in Africa, yet we still struggle with "NEPA" and expensive fuel.

But there’s a new "gist" in town.

Our energy leaders are moving beyond just talking; they are building a bridge to carry our gas across Africa.

Think of it like a neighbor who has a massive generator but no wire to reach your house. Right now, Nigeria is finally laying those wires (pipelines) to reach our neighbors like Morocco and others across West Africa, because when we sell this gas to our neighbors, it brings in the "sharp-sharp" foreign exchange we need to stabilize our economy.

Even better, by focusing on gas, we can finally move our buses and factories to cheaper, cleaner energy (CNG), making transport and food prices drop.

We are moving from "wasting the gas" to "working the gas." It’s time for Nigeria to actually power the continent.

What do you think? Should we focus on giving ourselves light first before "sharing" with our African neighbors?

Have you ever spent five hours on a journey that should take forty-five minutes? If you have traveled between Enugu and Onitsha recently, you know the struggle of "gallops" and broken axles. But things are changing!

The reconstruction of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway is finally picking up speed, and the sections being finished are like a dream. For our brothers and sisters bringing in containers from Onitsha or sending food items from the northern parts of the East, this is huge news.

A smoother road means your car lasts longer, your goods arrive fresh, and most importantly, you get home to your family on time. This isn’t just about cement; it’s about making sure the "East-Side Gbedu" of our economy never stops playing.

Are you noticing the difference on your recent trips, or are you still avoiding that route? Let’s talk in the comments👇

Nigeria is currently leading a massive project to connect our electricity grid with our neighbors, Niger, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Togo. As we speak, the project is already 56% finished!

Imagine a world where if one country has extra power, they can easily send it to where it’s needed most. This "Power Pool" means more stable electricity for our hospitals, schools, and markets. It’s like a "contribution club" (Ajo) but for light!

Because Nigeria is leading this, it also means we can sell our excess power to earn foreign exchange and create more jobs for our youth in the energy sector. We are halfway to a brighter West Africa.

Do you think this regional cooperation is the final solution to our "Up NEPA" worries? Drop your thoughts👇

Is your "take-home" pay actually reaching home?

There’s some good news from the new Nigeria Tax Act that everyone needs to hear. While Minister Taiwo Oyedele is making waves across Africa, pushing to stop our "national Esusu box" from leaking, the government is also making sure the load isn't too heavy on you.

The Breakdown:
• Zero Tax for Low Earners: Earn ₦800,000 or less a year (about ₦66,600 monthly)? You are now 100% tax-free! No more deductions from your hustle.
• Rent Relief is Real: Get a 20% deduction on your rent (up to ₦500,000) when calculating tax. That’s more cash for landlord issues.
• Market Price Protection: Basic food, books, and electricity are "Zero-Rated" for VAT. This is the "gbas gbos" response to inflation.
• Small Business Win: If your hustle makes less than ₦50M/year, you pay 0% Company Income Tax.

This isn’t just talk; it’s about plugging the leaks at the top so there’s more breathing space at the bottom.

Are you seeing these changes on your Feb/March pay slip, or is HR still "loading"? Let's talk in the comments!

The $1 trillion economy in motion.

That phrase captures something real about where Nigeria is right now. Not at the destination, but genuinely on the road, and further along that road than the conversation outside Nigeria has tended to acknowledge.

The last two years involved decisions that cost people something: fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and monetary policy tightening that pushed rates higher before they could come down. The FATF grey list exit, which matters more than most non-finance people realise, quietly restored relationships with the global financial system that had been complicated for years.

Those reforms changed what conversation Nigeria is able to have internationally. On Tuesday, at The Peninsula London, the discussion was not about potential. It was about pipeline, about where the money goes, how it is structured, and what it builds over the next decade.

This is what the $1 trillion economy looks like in motion. 🇳🇬

The question for Nigeria was never whether the ambition was there.

It was whether the groundwork would be laid for capital to follow. The fuel subsidy is gone. The exchange rate reflects something real. The monetary framework has been rebuilt. The FATF grey list is history.

That is the groundwork. And Tuesday in London was the invitation to the next chapter.

The $1 trillion economy is not a number someone invented. It is a specific destination with a specific road leading to it. 🇳🇬
