We are committed to developing dynamic, innovative and principled African leaders. We recognize that raising leaders is critical to nation building and wealth creation. Over the years, LEAP has inspired and equipped youth, business owners and social entrepreneurs to lead ethically while implementing initiatives that transform their communities and organizations; sustaining livelihood and contributing to national development. What does it really take to turn youth potential into prosperity?

Access to finance? Enabling policies? Technology? Stronger institutions? Or the right partnerships?

At the Social Innovators Programme and Awards (SIPA) 2026, we are bringing together people working across the areas of finance, investment, technology, policy, governance and youth development, to explore what actually moves the needle for young innovators and the communities they serve.

Our speakers Mrs Clare Omatseye, Mr Tola Adeyemi, Dr Solomon King, Ms Micheline Ntiru, Ms Kehinde Ayeni, Dr Ndubuisi N. Nwokolo, Esohe Ikponmwosa Igbinoba, Onyeche Agbiti-Douglas PhD, Mrs Iyadunni Olubode and Mr Ikenna Ogbudimkpa will unpack the realities of building and scaling social enterprises, navigating policy, strengthening governance and unlocking opportunities for sustainable growth.

Eight universities, one debate floor and many brilliant minds ready to make their arguments count!

The North-East/North-West Regional Quarterfinals of the Youth Leadership Debates brought the intellectual energy to the Federal University of Education, Zaria, with teams challenging perspectives, defending their positions, and showing what happens when young people engage deeply with the issues that matter.

Representing their institutions were teams from Al-Qalam University, Katsina; Ahmadu Bello University; Usmanu Danfodiyo University; Bayero University Kano; Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University; Air Force Institute of Technology; Kaduna State University; and Modibbo Adama University, Yola.

After a gripping round of debates, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Ahmadu Bello University, and Al-Qalam University, Katsina, claimed the winning spots!

Congratulations to the teams for rising to the challenge and earning their place in the semifinals.

The semifinal awaits, and these young leaders are proving that the future of public discourse is in capable hands!

The arguments were bold, the research was solid, and the competition was fierce! The South-West/North-Central Regional Quarterfinals of the Youth Leadership Debates brought the heat to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), as eight teams went head-to-head in a battle of ideas, research, critical thinking, and persuasive advocacy.

From the University of Ibadan, University of Benin, Lagos State University, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, to Olabisi Onabanjo University, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ilorin, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, every team came ready to make its mark. But when the dust settled, Lagos State University (LASU), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and University of Ibadan (UI) emerged victorious, securing their places in the semifinals!

A huge congratulations to the three teams!

Beyond the competition, the debates continue to give young people a platform to sharpen their reasoning, defend their positions, and engage with issues that matter to Nigeria’s future.
