**NAF Intensifies Offensive, Destroys Terrorist Bases in North-East**
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stepped up its aerial offensive against insurgents in the North-East, launching a series of precision airstrikes that successfully targeted terrorist hideouts in Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns region.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operations were executed under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI.
He disclosed that the renewed offensive is focused on dismantling terrorist networks through sustained and aggressive strikes across key insurgent territories.
Acting on credible intelligence, NAF fighter aircraft reportedly hit several enemy enclaves, destroying camps, crippling logistics bases, and neutralising numerous fighters through coordinated attack missions.
Ejodame revealed that on April 30, air assets carried out a major Air Interdiction mission at Alafa in the Sambisa axis, where terrorist facilities and supply points were effectively destroyed.
He further stated that the operation continued on May 1 with another successful strike at Metele in the Tumbuns, after surveillance identified a fortified island hideout housing fighters, storage centres, and defensive trench systems.
The Air Force spokesman noted that with a large number of insurgents confirmed in the target zone, NAF aircraft unleashed precise firepower that decimated the location.
He explained that the sustained operations reflect a clear military strategy aimed at maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements and denying them any opportunity to regroup.
The statement also quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as reaffirming the Air Force’s commitment to continue the offensive until all threats to national security are fully eliminated.
The latest airstrikes come days after another coordinated operation on April 27, when NAF aircraft bombarded terrorist positions in Guduf, located in the Mandara Mountains near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, based on credible intelligence and surveillance reports.
