Recently, HUFFPED brought together a new cohort of community members to introduce them to the Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) model.
From financial discipline and group governance to running self-sustained savings circles, these future leaders were equipped with every tool needed to build, manage, and grow their own independent VSLAs.Watching them take ownership of their financial futures is what community development is all about.

A look inside our recent Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) orientation for a new cohort of visionary women in Lagos Island. More than a training session, this was a masterclass in localized financial engineering, self-governance, and collective economic mobility.
From understanding the mechanics of share-purchasing to building structured emergency buffers, these women are taking full ownership of their financial futures. True economic development isn’t about temporary aid; it’s about providing the framework for communities to build their own capital.
