WHO IS CARING FOR THE MOTHER?
💛 POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION IS REAL — LET’S TALK ABOUT IT
Having a new baby can bring joy, but it can also come with overwhelming emotions. Some mothers may experience persistent sadness, anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, difficulty bonding with their baby, or feelings of hopelessness after childbirth.
This may be postpartum depression (PPD), and it deserves attention and support.
What can help?
🌸 Talk to someone you trust. Don’t struggle in silence.
🌸 Ask for help with the baby and household responsibilities.
🌸 Rest whenever possible and eat nourishing meals.
🌸 Stay connected with supportive family and friends.
🌸 Speak with a qualified healthcare professional if the feelings are intense, persist, or interfere with caring for yourself or your baby.
Partners and family members also have an important role. Listen without judgement, offer practical support, and pay attention to changes in a new mother’s emotional wellbeing.
⚠️ Please seek urgent professional help if a mother has thoughts of harming herself or her baby, feels extremely confused, hears or sees things others do not, or behaves unusually.
Motherhood should never mean suffering alone. Supporting a mother’s mental health is also supporting her baby’s health and development.
