Happy International Day of the Boy Child! đź’™

Today, we celebrate the dreams, potential, creativity, strength, and humanity of boys everywhere.

At SACSAN Foundation, we believe every boy deserves guidance, encouragement, positive role models, and opportunities to grow into responsible and purpose-driven men.

Last year, we hosted our Boys Career Conference 2025 — Boyz2Men: Becoming the Equivalent Man — where boys from different schools came together to learn about careers, character, leadership, choices, relationships, and the kind of men they want to become.

There were powerful conversations, inspiring speakers, mentorship moments, and even a vision/affirmation exercise where the boys declared positive words over their future. It was beautiful to watch.

Many boys are growing up in a confusing world, and they need intentional support now more than ever. We all have a role to play — parents, teachers, mentors, professionals, communities, and organisations.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported the conference, and we are excited about the future.

By God’s grace, we look forward to making this programme bigger and better in the years to come, reaching even more boys and helping shape tomorrow’s leaders.

To every boy reading this:
You matter.
Your future matters.
Your choices matter.
And the world needs the best version of you.

Children, Work, and the Example We Set
This Workers’ Day, as we celebrate the dignity of labour, let’s remember—children are watching.
Every day, they are forming ideas about work from us. Not just from what we say, but from how we show up—our attitude, our integrity, our commitment, and how we treat others. Long before they choose a career, they are already learning what work means.
If we want children to grow into responsible and purposeful adults, we must be intentional role models. We must show them that work is not just about earning a living, but about contributing meaningfully to society.
But modelling is not enough—we must also create access.
Many children only know a limited number of careers. When we take time to speak to them, share our journeys, and expose them to different professions, we expand their world and help them see new possibilities.
This is where you come in.
As we prepare for our I Am a Community Hero programme this June and July, we are inviting professionals to volunteer as speakers and inspire children by sharing what you do and how your work impacts the community.
If you believe in shaping the future through children, we would love to have you join us.
Send us a message to volunteer or partner.

Volunteer Spotlight - Today, we celebrate Mrs. Adeola Ike.
Mrs. Adeola Ike is the Managing Director of Karpos Media—a dedicated and seasoned scriptwriter, novelist, and producer of repute, with many works to her credit. Her writings are deeply instructive, often addressing important contemporary issues that shape our society.
But beyond her professional accomplishments, she has been a pillar of support to us at Save A Child Save A Nation Foundation.
She was one of the very first people to respond when we made our first call for volunteers. At the time, she was serving as a children’s teacher at The Latter Rain Assembly (now Citadel Global Community Church), bringing the same passion for nurturing young minds into our work.
Ever present. Ever supportive.
A constant voice of encouragement, always looking out for our success.
From all of us at SACSAN Foundation, we say thank you for your labour of love. đź’›

Volunteer Spotlight – Introducing
Miller Odianosen | Mechanical Engineer | Cybersecurity Enthusiast
Business-minded & tech-driven | Curious systems thinker, disciplined problem-solver | NIMechE member bridging mech eng & cybersecurity for innovation & growth.
Odia Miller was the very first volunteer SACSAN Foundation ever had.
He was my neighbour at the time, fresh out of secondary school—having just completed his studies at Iju Senior Secondary School. But beyond that, he was my chief encourager.
In 2016, when I received provisional approval to run one of my early programmes across three schools in Education District 1—
📍 Iju Junior Grammar School
📍 Iju-Obawole Junior Grammar School
📍 Station Junior Secondary School
Odia was right there with me every step of the way.
He followed me to Xerox in Ikeja to make photocopies.
He accompanied me to all the schools.
He took pictures on my phone.
But more than anything, he watched over me—making sure everything went well.
I was timid… very timid.
But here was this young man, full of belief—believing in me and in what I was trying to build.
That was 10 years ago.
And today, I am reminded that sometimes, all it takes is one person who believes in you to keep going.
Thank you, Odia, for being that person.

Behind every programme, every child reached, and every life impacted… there is a volunteer.
At Save A Child Save A Nation Foundation, volunteers are not just helpers—they are the heartbeat of our work.
They believe in our mission.
They give their time.
They show up—again and again.
And because of them, we are able to reach more children, tell more stories, and build more community heroes.
This series is our way of saying thank you—and of shining a light on the people who make everything possible.
Because truly, we could not do this without them.

In 2025, something powerful happened.

“I Am a Community Hero” was no longer just a programme…
It became a movement.

We reached 350 children across multiple schools in two different locations—Kosofe and Agege LGEAs—expanding our impact and deepening our reach.

For many of these children, it was the first time:
✨ They saw professionals up close
✨ They understood that work is about solving problems
✨ They began to believe: “I can make a difference.”

From engineers to fire officers, from historians to food scientists—
these children didn’t just hear about careers…

They saw what it means to be a Community Hero.

Even more meaningful?
Children with hearing impairments participated fully—supported by sign language teachers—reminding us that every child deserves access to possibility.

And this is just the beginning.

📍 This year, we are bringing “I Am a Community Hero” to Mushin and Surulere LGEAs.

If you believe that children should grow up knowing:
👉 Their lives matter
👉 Their work can serve others
👉 They can shape the future

Then partner with us. Donate. Support this mission.

Because when a child sees themselves as a Community Hero…
a nation begins to change.

ARE WE HELPING CHILDREN DISCOVER THEMSELVES—OR JUST REPEATING OUR OWN BIASES?

Caption:

Many times, when we talk to children about careers, we unknowingly push:
👩‍⚕️ Doctor
⚖️ Lawyer
👨‍💼 Engineer

But are we really listening to the child?

Childhood Career Development Education teaches:
âś” Self-awareness first
âś” Exploration before expectation
âś” Confidence before comparison

Because every child is not meant to become what society praises—
but what they are uniquely designed to be.

Childhood Career Development Education is not about asking children:
“What do you want to be in the future?”
It is about helping them understand:
• Who they are
• What they are good at
• How people work and contribute in society
• How their lives can have meaning and impact
At this stage, it is not about choosing a career.
It is about building awareness, confidence, and possibility.
When done right, children begin to see that:
“My life matters. My work will matter.”
This is how we raise not just workers—but community heroes.

2025 at a Glance
2025 was a truly defining year for us at Save A Child Save A Nation Foundation—a year of impact, growth, and meaningful firsts.
For the first time, we hosted our Boys Career Conference, themed “Boyz2Men: Becoming the Equivalent Man”—creating a safe and intentional space to guide young boys on careers, responsibility, and purpose.
We also took an important step towards inclusion, with the privilege of hosting children with special needs alongside their peers, reinforcing our belief that career development education should be accessible to every child.
Another major milestone was our first-ever physical Careers Fair, bringing together students, professionals, and opportunities in one dynamic space.
In total, we reached over 1,300 students across 15 primary and secondary schools—both public and private—spanning 4 Education Districts and 2 Local Government Education Authorities in Lagos State.
Behind every number is a child who can now see new possibilities.
This is why we do what we do.
