ABOUT BLYSON:

Blissful Life for Youth Society of Nigeria (BLYSON) is a Non- profit and non-governmental organization incorporated in Nigeria in 2009 with a primary focus of creating a platform to empower young people including Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) with the skills needed to be successful in all spheres of life. Young people constitute a great resource and the future of any society

and face a myriad of challenges including but not limited to social, economic, low self-esteem, mental ill health, HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse etc. Approximately one in 20 young people (15- 24) are infected with curable transmitted infection annually and the age group accounts for more than half of all new HIV infections. This is not a healthy trend and calls for effective and corrective measures to reduce the rate of HIV infections in Nigeria especially among young people. In the past years, BLYSON has taken strides to provide information on Sexual Transmission Prevention (STP) for young people and to aid them to redefine their lives for a successful future through seminars, workshops, Conferences, and the publication of the book titled-Steps to a Blissful Life. Through advocacy to the then commissioner of Education Dr Adeleke Pitan, Steps to a Blissful Life is currently a recommended text in all secondary schools in the state. In 2011, BLYSON in collaboration with Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) and support from CDC, enrolled 1,000 Orphan and Vulnerable Children in Amuwo Odofin and Ajeromi Ifelodun local government area in Lagos state. The services provided include psychosocial support, health services, child protection educational support, nutritional counseling and referral. Activities carried out include advocacy visit, community sensitization and mobilization for vulnerable children enrollment and services provision. BLYSON is one of the Community- Based Organizations presently working in partnership with Family Health International (FHI 360) on the project- Strengthening Integrated delivery of HIV/ AIDS Services ( SIDHAS Project) with Sponsorship from US Agency for International Development (USAID). Core activities of the SIDHAS Project include: Advocacy to community leaders on HCT, Care & Support for PLHIV,HCT, OVC Identification, Enrollment And Service, Community Mobilization on HTC,PMTCT, Gender Based Violence and Stigma/Discrimination, Peer-Educator led Cohort Session, Tracking and/Referral, IPAC Meetings, Home Visits to people living with HIV/AIDS /PABAS Support Group Meetings e.t.c

A heartwarming and inspiring Story!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Share to Inspire Children!!!!!

Nigerian-born Italian citizen, CHIDERA, stepped foot in her ancestral homeland for the first time, this Christmas season. The Christmas holiday was a perfect opportunity for her to reconnect with her roots.

With holiday over and school resumption in January, Dara decide to give back to her community by volunteering to teach Italian language in her village community school in Ihiala Anambra state.

With her younger brother Neto by her side, CHIDERA embarked on a mission to share her knowledge and cultural heritage with the pupils of UBAHUEKWEM community school in Ihiala, Anambra state.

As they walked into the school, the students' eyes widened with curiosity, eager to learn from this foreign-born, yet locally-rooted, visitors.

CHIDERA'S decision to teach Italian language to the pupils was more than just a gesture of cultural exchange; it was a bridge-building exercise, connecting the dots between her dual identities and the community she had never known. As she began to speak in Italian, the students' faces lit up with fascination, and they eagerly repeated the phrases.

But CHIDERA'S gift to the students went beyond language lessons. She also shared books to motivate the young minds.

As the days unfolds, CHIDERA'S younger brother watched in awe, seeing his sister's passion and dedication to giving back to their community. He realized that, despite their mixed heritage, they were still connected to their Nigerian roots, and was happy that their experiences and knowledge could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The students, too, were inspired by CHIDERA'S life seeing in her a reflection of their own potential and possibilities. They began to envision a future where they, too, could explore the world, learn new languages, and share their own stories with others.

This is truly remarkable and Dera deserves commendation❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉🎉

Dera's heartwarming and inspiring story!

As the Nigerian-born Italian/Irish citizen, CHIDERA, stepped foot in her ancestral homeland for the first time, she was met with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The Christmas holiday was a perfect opportunity for her to reconnect with her roots and give back to her community.

As she began to speak in Italian, the students' faces lit up with fascination, and they eagerly repeated the phrases, trying to mimic the melodic sounds of the language.

But CHIDERA'S gift to the students went beyond language lessons. She also shared books, carefully curated to inspire and educate the young minds. The books, filled with stories of adventure, science, and history, were a treasure trove of knowledge, sparking the students' imagination and broadening their horizons.

As the day unfolded, CHIDERA'S younger brother watched in awe, seeing his sister's passion and dedication to giving back to their community. He realized that, despite their mixed heritage, they were still connected to their Nigerian roots, and that their experiences and knowledge could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

To the pupils of UBAHUEKWEM primary school ihiala, Anambra state Nigeria their encounter with Dera through out the 1st week of school after the Christmas brake will remain memorable. CHIDERA and her brother left the school, knowing that they had planted a seed of hope and cultural exchange in the hearts of the students. The experience had been a powerful reminder of the importance of giving back, sharing knowledge, and bridging the gaps between cultures and communities.

Thumps up Dera. Neto and the pupils of UBAHUEKWEM primary school ihiala Anambra state Nigeria.
