OUR BACKGROUND:
The Concerned Humanity for Health Initiative (COHIN) was established to contribute in reducing the burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. In Nigeria, with a population of over 169 Million, (Population Census 2010) people and the average life expectancy of 53 (WHO Statistics 2012) for men and 55 years for women (as compared with 80 years in developed countries of
the world) are grouped among the developing countries of the world, has a low life expectancy due to high burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. These killer diseases have caused the loss of many skilled professionals in various walks of life, most of the consequences are either due to inadequate knowledge on healthy living habits, delay in seeking health interventions, poor health infrastructures, unequal distribution of health resources, poor health evaluation and monitoring, inadequate health policy, lack of adequate mechanism for community - wide data collection on Non-communicable diseases which has become an increasing problem due to urbanization, sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diet. Hence the establishment of The Concerned Humanity for Health Initiative (COHIN) in January, 2014. Our team presently comprise of Medical Doctors, Optometrists, Dentists, Pharmacists, Medical Laboratory Scientists and Volunteers.
