Twelve years ago, Chibok became a name the world would not forget.

What began as an abduction of 276 schoolgirls in 2014 quickly grew into a global moment of outrage, solidarity, and promise of action.

But years later, the reality remains unfinished. Some of the girls have returned home through escape, rescue, or release. Many families have been reunited with their daughters. Yet 89 are still unaccounted for, and the absence continues to define their lives.

For the families, time did not move in the same way. It paused, stretched, and reshaped everything around waiting and uncertainty.

Chibok is no longer just a moment in history. It is a reminder of what happens when urgency fades before accountability is complete.
