DoTheDream YDI at 81 — Advancing Global South Energy Justice Through the Girls in Energy Village and the DoTheDream Energy Industrial Village

We participated in 81 in New York, advancing the Girls in Energy Village and the DoTheDream YDI Energy Industrial Village as strategic platforms for promoting energy justice, inclusive industrialisation, mass job creation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic transformation across the Global South.

Our engagements brought together interconnected priorities around digital inclusion, peace, global health systems, energy transition, industrialisation, youth development, and the meaningful participation of women and girls in the emerging global economy.

21 September — Powering Digit All: Girls in Energy Village for Digital Inclusion

Our first major engagement focused on “Powering Digit All”, advancing the Girls in Energy Village for Digital Inclusion. The session explored how access to digital infrastructure, technology, skills, innovation, and digital agency can expand opportunities for girls and young women while strengthening their participation in the digital, energy, and knowledge economies.

21 September — International Day of Peace

DoTheDream YDI joined Servas International, STUF United Fund, and the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) to host an engagement commemorating the International Day of Peace.

The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen dialogue around peace, partnership, inclusion, sustainable development, and collective action in addressing global challenges.

22 September — Global Health Systems

On 22 September, we participated in the inaugural meeting of the CoNGO NGO Committee on Global Health Systems, contributing to conversations focused on strengthening global health systems and advancing collaboration among civil society and other stakeholders. This engagement reinforced the interconnectedness of health, human development, economic opportunity, and sustainable development.

Dr. Oluwayemisi Appointed Secretary of NGO Committee on Global Health Systems in New York

At the margins of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) convened the inaugural meeting of its NGO Committee on Global Health Systems.

During the meeting, Dr. Oluwayemisi, Chair of DoTheDream YDI Health, Nigeria, was elected unopposed as Secretary of the newly established NGO Committee on Global Health Systems in New York.

This appointment reflects Dr. Oluwayemisi’s commitment to advancing inclusive, responsive, and sustainable health systems, while strengthening civil-society engagement and global collaboration for improved health outcomes.

Her election is also a proud milestone for DoTheDream Youth Development Initiative (DoTheDream YDI), Nigeria, and all partners working to expand health impact and equity across communities worldwide.

The GIRLS ARE ASSET Conference is Back in Lagos!

Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, lead, innovate, and thrive. Same with Boys to amplify their impact. This October, DoTheDream Youth Development Initiative is taking the conversation directly to schools across Lagos through the GIRLS ARE ASSET Conference 2026.

Featuring: Girls in Energy,  Economy for Education Girls’ education, leadership, and career inspiration. STEM, clean energy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development

Girls are not just the future—they are assets today. Join DoTheDream Youth Development Initiative for the GIRLS ARE ASSET Conference, , an inspiring schools-based engagement programme featuring Girls in Energy and the Economy for Education.

The conference will bring together girls, boys, educators, parents, education leaders, policymakers, development partners, and community stakeholders to promote inclusive education, girls’ leadership, career opportunities in energy and technology, entrepreneurship, and shared responsibility for building a stronger economy through education.

Through meaningful conversations, mentorship, career guidance, advocacy, and practical inspiration, we are creating spaces where girls can see themselves as innovators, leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and changemakers—especially within the growing energy, digital, and sustainability sectors.

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, I’m honoured to join civil society leaders for “The Work of Peace” — a special side event exploring how NGOs, philanthropy, faith communities, and youth are building generative, adaptable pathways to peace in challenging times.
