TODAY’S CREATIVE
Hilary Vambula (Model)

QUESTIONS
(1) TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
I’m Hilary Vambula. My dad is from Akwa Ibom, but my mom is from Adamawa State. I was born and raised in Warri, Delta State. I got my first degree from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where I studied Agricultural and Resource Economics. I enjoy reading, cooking, and creative thinking as hobbies. 😂

(2) HOW DID YOU GET INTO MODELING
I’ve always wanted to be a model because of the way I look. 😂 I got into modeling in my second year in school. Modeling in my school was so terrible 😢 ; all I was looking for was the right platform to show my beauty, ikr!

(3) WHAT DRAWS YOU MOST TO FASHION, UNDERWEAR, AND MENSWEAR
The images of Black models and how they look. I like that weird look and how defined they look. That drew my attention to fashion, and also the beauty of designer pieces.

(4) WHAT DEFINES YOUR PERSONAL STYLE AS A MODEL
My looks! Ready to work!!! I’m always ready on set, even if I am not ready mentally, but always ready physically.

(5) WHAT DOES CONFIDENCE MEAN TO YOU IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA
It means being ready to give everything so your work can stand out.

(6) WHAT WAS YOUR MOST CHALLENGING PROJECT(S)
Every new project is challenging for me, but I am waiting to get that top project that will be even more challenging. I had a project where I was asked to swim. I have phobia for water, but guess what? I did it 😂. That was my first time swimming.

(7) WHAT IS THE MOST MISUNDERSTOOD PART OF BEING A MODEL
We are art! We showcase ourselves to make every piece we wear look beautiful and attractive, not for fun sake. Because society now tags models to prostitution.

(8) HOW DO YOU FEEL YOUR SOCIETY INFLUENCE YOUR CREATIVE EXPERIENCE
Society doesn’t influence models especially in Nigeria. We are in our space doing our thing.

(9) WHAT'S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF WHAT YOU DO
Good pictures!!!!!! And the money.

(10) WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BEGIN THEIR MODELING JOURNEY
Modeling is interesting, and you must be ready at all times to give it your all so you can be outstanding.

FUN 20
Icebreaker conversations with beautiful and talented minds.

Question For the Day:
WHAT'S A NATIVE SLANG YOU KNOW AND ITS ENGLISH MEANING

Ifreke Eyo (Social entrepreneur & Event organizer)

QUESTIONS
- WHAT’S A RECENT PROJECT/ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU'RE PROUD OF
At the start of 2025, when I was experiencing the real-life consequences of being a freelance ghost writer with no legal ownership of my works and no concrete evidence of my 7+ years in the business, I decided to challenge myself to start writing for myself and my own career. I told myself that I must put out pieces at least once a month on Substack, and I did. Started from not having anything of my own on the internet, to having 9 pieces on Substack, 49 people who deemed me worthy enough to follow, and TALKATIVE my YouTube channel; that is doing surprisingly well.

- WHAT IS AN UNHINGED THING YOU HAVE FELT THE NEED TO TELL SOMEONE RECENTLY
Google your name! Feeling unmotivated, purposeless, and in need of direction? Google your name. It will remind you of where you’re coming from and what your goals are. And for direction, nothing shows the path to follow like looking at the footprints of the ones that came before you.

- IF YOU HAD AN ENTRANCE MUSIC ANYTIME YOU STEPPED IN A ROOM WHAT WOULD IT BE
This is such a tricky question. There are so many good songs to choose from, omg. I am going to go with anything from Brazzy. Her music makes me feel like THAT GIRL!

- WHAT SONG(S) CURRENTLY CAN YOU LISTEN TO ALL DAY
I can listen to Frank Dukes’ “The Way of Ging,” “Happy Survival” by Childish Gambino, and “Tomorrow” by Okaywill over and over again.
They have amazing replay value.

- LEAVE A SHORT MESSAGE (NOT MORE THAN) TO YOUR FAVORITE CREATIVE FRIEND/MENTOR
All your efforts will matter sooner than later.

- WHAT WAS SOMETHING YOU WERE REALLY INTO AS A KID THAT YOU KINDA MISS & WHY
Climbing and sitting in trees. I miss doing that a lot.

- WHY DO YOU LIVE WHERE YOU DO CURRENTLY
The hardest question for me to answer rn is “where do you live?”
And I still don’t have an answer, so all I am going to give you is, it’s all NYSC’s fault.

TODAY'S CREATIVE
HRM Queen Busola Adarabierin (Gamer)

QUESTIONS
(1) TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
My name is QUEENBOBBY. I’m a Nigerian gamer mum based in Mexico, building a growing gaming community through TikTok and live streaming. I balance motherhood with content creation, and I’m passionate about creating a space where gaming feels inclusive, fun, and real. My journey is unique because I’m breaking stereotypes; not just as a mum, but also coming from an African background where gaming isn’t always encouraged.

(2) HOW DID YOU DISCOVER GAMING
I discovered gaming at a young age, even before the PlayStation 1 era, because I come from a family of gamers. It was always part of my environment growing up, so it felt natural to me. What started as something around me quickly became something I truly loved, and that foundation is a big part of why gaming is still such a big part of my life today.

(3) DO YOUR KIDS OR FAMILY KNOW HOW SERIOUS YOU ARE ABOUT THE GAME
Yes, they definitely do. Gaming runs in my family; my kids are gamers too, and my eldest son is also a streamer like me. So it’s something we genuinely share and understand together. It’s not just a hobby in our home, it’s part of our lifestyle.

(4) TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT FAVORITE GAME (FAVORITE GAME MODE AND LOADOUT)
Right now, my favorite game is Call of Duty. I enjoy fast-paced modes where I can stay active and in control of the action. My current favorite loadout is the MK35 paired with the Razor 9mm — it fits perfectly with my aggressive playstyle and allows me to react quickly in intense situations.

(5) WHAT CREATIVE CHALLENGES DO YOU DEAL WITH AS A GAMER
Balancing real life and content creation is one of my biggest challenges. As a mum, my time isn’t always predictable, so consistency takes real effort. Another challenge is standing out in a competitive space while also dealing with assumptions about my age and background.

TODAY'S CREATIVE
Damilola Bamkole (Illustrator & Art Director)

QUESTIONS
(1) TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
My name is Damilola Bamkole. I’m an illustrator and art director. My practice spans character design, art posters, children’s books, visual identity development for product and packaging design, publishing, fashion, animation, and other entertainment media for clients at home and in the diaspora. I’m also the founder of The Silver Spangle, an alternative design house that turns playful original Nigerian illustrations into premium collectibles, toys, and functional art for quirky young adults and creative brands. Since 2021, I’ve produced multiple sold-out collections, hosted exhibitions and pop-ups, while building a growing community around illustration as both art and product. I’m a Minishot Microgrant Fellow (2026).

(2) HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR PRACTICE
I’ve always been drawing since I was very little, so I’ve known — and been supported to become — an artist or fashion designer from an early age. I was the kind of child to handmake birthday cards for family, make jewelry from straws and paper clips, and find lots of joy in Visual Art class in primary and secondary school. My earliest influences were watching Mr. Maker, Art Attack, Fashion TV/Style on DSTV, and playing dress-up games on my dad’s PC. Even one of my uncles, who sometimes helped me buy art supplies so we could make my school art projects together, was a huge inspiration too.

(3) WHAT DEFINES YOUR VISUAL STYLE AS AN ILLUSTRATOR
A lot of things I watched and read growing up, like comics, American animations, and shows, helped define my style. My style gives a youthful Nigerian perspective to those influences, renewing them in a way. Colour is also my favourite visual element. Colour theory and usage are especially what people compliment the most about my work and recognize it by. I’m a very emotional person, and I often want to communicate a feeling when I render colours, which is why I’m selective and love experimenting with vivid colours.

FUN 20
Icebreaker conversations with beautiful and talented minds.

Question For the Day:
IF YOU MET A GENIE AND HAD 3 WISHES, WHAT WOULD THEY BE

Udoh Victor John
Professional Close-Up & Stage Magician

QUESTIONS

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU HAD TO UNLEARN RECENTLY
I had to unlearn trying to impress everyone. Real magic isn’t about proving you’re the best; it’s about making people feel something. Once I understood that, everything changed.

WHAT IS A CHORE YOU WOULD USE MAGIC EVERYDAY TO DO
Definitely setting up for shows. Carrying props, arranging everything… I’d love to just snap my fingers and everything sets itself perfectly. 😌

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE ON MAGIC
“Now You See Me.” It’s not just magic, it’s showmanship, psychology, and control. That’s real power. 🤓

WHAT SONG(S) CURRENTLY CAN YOU LISTEN TO ALL DAY
Anything with a strong vibe, Afrobeats with energy. Songs that make you feel like you’re about to perform in front of a crowd. 🤗

WHAT'S A NUMBER ONE RULE YOU BELIEVE A MAGICIAN SHOULD KNOW
Never break the moment. Once the audience starts questioning instead of feeling, the magic is gone. 😎

WHAT WAS SOMETHING YOU WERE REALLY INTO AS A KID THAT YOU KINDA MISS & WHY
Cartoons and pure imagination. Back then, everything felt possible. 😇 No limits, no overthinking, just wonder.

WHY DO YOU LIVE WHERE YOU DO CURRENTLY
Because Lagos/Nigeria has energy. The audience is alive, expressive, and real. If you can amaze people here, you can amaze people anywhere. 😎

IF YOU MET A GENIE AND HAD 3 WISHES, WHAT WOULD THEY BE
1. To be as famous, wealthy, and popular as Michael Jackson, but as a magician. 🥹🫣
2. To master every form of illusion and human psychology. 🤩
3. To create a legacy people will talk about long after I’m gone. 😎

WHAT’S AN UNPOPULAR BUSINESS/CREATIVE/LIFE OPINION YOU SUPPORT
Cheap work kills your value. If you don’t respect your craft, nobody else will.

FAVORITE BOOK/MOVIE/ANIME
I’m more drawn to things that play with the mind, anything psychological or strategic.

TELL A LIE OR AN ODD TRUTH
Sometimes I already know how someone will react before I even start the trick.

TODAY'S CREATIVE
Onuorah Sophia (Multidisciplinary Artist)

QUESTIONS
(1) TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
I’m Onuorah Sophia Chikauso, a multidisciplinary artist. I’m obsessed with using lines, textures, and various materials to talk about identity and the quiet moments that make us human.

(2) HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR CRAFT?
It honestly started with simple curiosity. I began experimenting with different materials just to see what they could do, and that “what if” phase eventually evolved into a vital way for me to express my emotions.

(3) WHAT MEDIUM COMES MOST NATURALLY TO YOU AND WHY?
Textile art. There’s something about the texture that allows me to connect deeply with the creative process. It feels less like “work” and more like a natural conversation between my hands and my thoughts.

(4) WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF WORKING ACROSS MULTIPLE MEDIUMS?
The conceptual “thinking” phase is definitely the hardest. Trying to translate a single idea across different materials while keeping the core message intact can be a real mental workout.

(5) HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN CONSISTENCY IN YOUR IDENTITY WHILE WORKING IN DIVERSE MATERIALS?
I always come back to line and emotion. No matter if I’m working with soft fibers or something more structured, I focus on that specific visual language to keep everything feeling like “me.”

(6) WHAT WAS A CHALLENGING PROJECT?
Any project where I have to balance the softness of fiber with a rigid structure. It’s a constant lesson in patience and forced me to pay much closer attention to the tiny details I might otherwise skip.

(7) WHAT PART OF YOUR PROCESS DO PEOPLE MOST OFTEN UNDERESTIMATE?
The “unmaking.” People see the final piece and think it was a straight line to get there, but the making, unmaking, and rebuilding is 80% of the journey. The final result is just the tip of the iceberg.

(8) HOW DO YOU FEEL YOUR SOCIETY AFFECTS YOUR CRAFT?
My environment and daily unspoken experiences completely shape my perspective. My work is a reflection of the world I move through every day, it’s where my “language” of texture comes from.

....
TODAY'S CREATIVE
Ife Osunkoya (XR Developer & Interactive Artist)

QUESTIONS
(1) TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
My name is Ife Osunkoya, but friends call me Skodo. I’m an XR developer (AR/VR), a 3D environment artist, and an interactive artist. My work sits at the intersection of culture, urban thinking, and emerging technologies; I explore how those ideas blend and inform each other.

(2) HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR CRAFT
My interest started young: I loved handcrafting models and technical drawing in secondary school. At university (I studied architecture at UNILAG) I fell in love with software; I called myself a software ju**ie. While collaborating on architecture projects a friend suggested one of our spaces would look great in VR. That pushed me to learn XR tools; I did internships, met people, and found subjects I wanted to explore. From there it just grew.

(3) CAN YOU SHARE MORE ON YOUR EXPERIENCE IN YOUR CREATIVE PRACTICE
My practice is rooted in making engaging, explorable spaces. With an architectural background I focus on spatial experience; meaning-making through built and virtual forms. I’m interested in integrating cultural elements and connecting different knowledge sources: finding surprising links between ideas and synthesizing them into interactive work.

(4) WHAT CHALLENGES ARE YOU NAVIGATING AS A CREATIVE
In Nigeria the practical challenges are real: unstable infrastructure (electricity, internet) and, increasingly, security concerns that make travel and fieldwork risky. Early on I struggled with power and connectivity, though I’ve mostly solved that for myself. But travel across states can be intimidating because of safety issues, and that limits the geographic breadth of my practice.

(5) WHAT ARE YOUR TOP PRIORITIES WHEN DESIGNING
My priorities are meaning-making and creating engaging, living spaces. I want environments people can explore; spaces that feel alive. I also prioritise embedding cultural insights and research into projects, connecting seemingly unrelated knowledge to create new, resonant experiences.
