On April 15, 2026, HEDA Resource Centre awarded ₦1,000,000 to the Air Quality Team, winners of the Climate Creatives Bootcamp Pitch Fest (from the Climate Creatives Fellowship). The winning proposal focused on air pollution and public health.
The initiative brought together young journalists, creatives, and innovators from across Africa to learn compelling ways of telling Africa climate stories.
With this support, the team will produce a campaign using storytelling, digital media, and community engagement to strengthen media coverage of air quality issues and push for greater public attention and policy response.
We are backing this team because their work matters.

HEDA, NRGI, Miideekor and others to Convene Town Halls on Oil Divestment in Niger Delta

In a bid to strengthen transparency, environmental responsibility, and community participation in oil asset divestment attempts in the Niger Delta, the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre), in collaboration with the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), MIIIDEEKOR, Social Action, HOMEF, Kebetkache, and SDN have announced plans to convene community town hall meetings on oil divestment and transition accountability in the Niger Delta.

HEDA Resource Centre raises alarm over climate change

…Says lives, economic development under threat

In its recent report titled, ‘Enhancing Accountability in Climate Adaptation Finance in Nigeria: Synthesis Report and Case Studies on Ecological Fund’, HEDA maintained that Nigeria currently stands at a defining climate crossroads as intensifying perennial floods, prolonged droughts, deadly heatwaves, rising sea levels and shifting weather patterns threaten lives, livelihoods and national development.

Referring to the 2022-2024 nationwide flooding that affected 34 out of 36 states, destroyed thousands of hectares of farmlands, and displaced thousands of people, with consequential health issues, HEDA maintained that there is a need for urgent national adaptation to the menace.

HEDA’s study examined how adaptation finance is managed and delivered in Nigeria, with a particular focus on Ecological Fund at selected case studies in Borno, Niger and Ondo states.
