September is a month of significance in the sickle cell community, globally, but this year, it means even more to an Ngo named Sickle Cell Advocacy & Mgt Initiative (SAMI).
Our Founder and Executive Director, Ms. Toyin Adesola, would have turned 61 this September (Sept 1st). Though we are still coming to terms with her loss, we are choosing to honour her in the best way we can by continuing the work she gave so much of her life to.
Toyin believed that no one living with sickle cell should have to face the journey alone. This September, we invite you to help us carry that vision forward.
There are two ways to stand with us:
❤️ Give towards sickle cell care. Your financial contribution will help us continue providing essential care and support to people living with sickle cell who may otherwise struggle to access them.
Every contribution, regardless of size, helps us reach another person with medication, healthcare support, counselling, education and advocacy.
🩸 Give blood. Give hope. On September 5, we will be holding a Blood Drive. Blood cannot be manufactured or bought off a shelf; it can only come from someone willing to give, while rolling their sleeves.
If you are eligible, please donate. If you lead an organisation, please share this with your team. If you, your organization, friends, or family can give, please give generously. If you can each give a little, it adds up to a lot.
You don't have to do everything. But together, we can do something that matters, not just today or this September but for a lifetime.
Whether you have partnered with SAMI before or are just discovering our work, we would be grateful to have you stand with us this September and beyond.
In memory of Toyin.
In honour of every warrior. And in hope for the lives still ahead.
If you would like to support, partner with us, organise a workplace blood donation drive, or discuss other ways you/ your organisation can contribute, please get in touch.
