There’s no single solution to a problem as systemic and complex as educational inequity—addressing it requires many solutions, from many directions. No matter what the approach, we believe that there’s one indispensable factor to effecting true, enduring change—and that is leadership. TFN will develop strong, collaborative, determ

ined leaders who understand the root causes of inequity and are committed to challenging it. Theory of Change

We seek outstanding leaders who are passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of students in Nigeria’s most underserved areas. These carefully selected individuals – known as Fellows – are placed in high-need schools across Nigeria for two years, working to improve students’ academic achievement, attitudes and aspirations that unlock opportunities in higher education, careers, and their personal lives and to affect positive, sustainable change within the communities they serve. After two years, Fellows become part of Teach For Nigeria’s Alumni movement, working to make systemic, long term changes in the fight against education inequity.

What began as a simple intention for Blessing Nwordu to give at least one child access to quality education, confidence, and opportunity became a powerful story of transformation.

At Iwana Oke Ife, learners didn’t just improve academically; they began to believe in themselves. Through daily motivation, engaging classroom practices, Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), the Radio School Hub, and literacy support through the NABU app and The Light Hub, students moved from struggle to progress.

From learners who could not read or express themselves confidently to children now participating, speaking up, and achieving measurable academic growth, this is what happens when teaching is intentional, and belief is unwavering.

This is what happens when Fellows are empowered to lead with purpose.

This is what happens when we invest in opportunity, consistency, and the belief that every child can learn.

This , help us empower more Fellows to ignite transformation across classrooms and communities in Nigeria.

Your investment of ₦3,000,000 ($2,150) recruits, trains, and supports a Fellow who will teach 100 children this year and influence generations to come.

TEACH FOR NIGERIA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TY DANJUMA FOUNDATION AND LAGOS TESCOM TRAINS PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS IN LAGOS STATE

Teach For Nigeria, in partnership with the TY Danjuma Foundation and the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, has successfully trained public school teachers and education officers across Lagos State as part of a strategic effort to strengthen teaching quality and improve student learning outcomes. Over the past five years, Teach For Nigeria and the TY Danjuma Foundation have trained over 500 teachers annually across multiple states.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, emphasised the importance of capacity building: “This initiative is about improving teaching and learning outcomes across our schools. It is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, classroom management skills, and emotional intelligence required to deliver their best to every student in Lagos State.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of TESCOM, Mrs Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, highlighted the significance of the programme: “This training focuses on strengthening teaching methodology, classroom culture, and leadership. It is a strategic step towards equipping our teachers with the tools needed to thrive in today’s classrooms and deliver quality education.”

In her remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Nigeria, Mrs Molade Adeniyi, reiterated the organisation’s commitment to transforming education through teacher development: “When you invest in a teacher, you invest in the future of a child and the future of our country. This training is designed to strengthen existing teaching practices, introduce innovative methodologies, and empower teachers to create meaningful impact in their classrooms.”

The training featured practical and immersive sessions covering key areas such as classroom vision and planning, behaviour management, assessment strategies, digital skills, cooperative learning, social-emotional learning, and the integration of artificial intelligence in education.

What began as a commitment to support learners for Elizabeth Elero at Odomola Senior Secondary School in Epe became a powerful story of student leadership and transformation.

Through initiatives like Imaginative Minds, When We Speak, My Health, My Pride, and Brave Squad, students didn’t just participate in activities; they began to lead. They built confidence, found their voices, and started creating solutions to challenges within their school and community.

From non-readers learning to read and write, to students mentoring one another through study groups, to young leaders driving conversations on health, courage, and self-expression, this is what happens when students are given the space to grow.

This is what happens when Fellows are empowered to lead with purpose.

This is what happens when we invest in leadership, confidence, and opportunity.

This , help us empower more Fellows to ignite transformation across classrooms and communities in Nigeria.
