OPEN LETTER TO ALL GOVERNORS OF SOUTHERN NIGERIA ON THE RAMPARTS AND RAPAGING INSECURITY OF LIFES AND PROPERTIES.
DO NOT PLAY POLITICS WITH THE LIFES OF YOUR STATE RESIDENTS AND INDIGENES LIKE THE NORTHERN GOVERNORS DID
It did not start in a day. It started when those in authority began thinking only about themselves, the power they wanted to possess, and the wealth they wanted to accumulate.
They did not care about ordinary citizens. They cared only about themselves, their families, and their accomplices. Ordinary people were abandoned, and nobody cared about their welfare. Eventually, the common people realised that they could no longer continue living in the old way.
It began in just a few local governments until virtually the entire Northern region became engulfed.
The ordinary people knew they did not have the capacity to confront the situation. So, a few wealthy individuals were hypnotised into financing the wars. In the end, those who were used as ladders to climb up became victims themselves.
The same mistakes made by those in authority in the North are now being repeated by many Southern governors.
How can a person who truly cherishes his land and people allow strangers to occupy it unchecked?
Today, those strangers have become a thorn in our flesh. Many of us raised alarm when this trend first began, but our concerns were ignored. Even some people within our own communities faulted our reasoning, claiming that these were merely people searching for greener pastures.
Our governors and even the President from our region, because of politics and elections, turned blind eyes to the reality before them and ignored the fire already burning on the rooftop.
Some claimed that Lagos could never be attacked because any such attempt would fail. That is a big lie.
Every street in Southern Nigeria is already manned by these potential foot soldiers of the caliphate. All it may take is a single instruction for hidden arms to be brought out.
If these foot soldiers, who already know every nook and cranny of our communities, are commanded to wage war, Lagos could become a ruin within a day.
Is there any street they have not occupied? None.
Who wants to fight against warriors who do not fear death?
Imagine killing one of them, only for a hundred of our people to be killed in retaliation. Have you ever considered the value of one educated child in the South compared to a hundred of those valueless warriors?
Our dear Governors,
Please take urgent steps to redeem our land and secure our future:
1. Ban the operation of all commercial motorcycles (Okada) without proper identification tags.
2. Ensure that all non-indigenes and residents have verifiable residential addresses and proper means of identification.
3. Ban the activities of scrap iron buyers operating freely on our streets.
4. Urgently establish, strengthen, and empower locally fortified traditional neighborhood guilds to protect our communities.
Our dear Governors, do not sell our land for political power and personal ambition.
Act urgently.
Act fast.
Be proactive.
Do not trade away our future and our safety for selfish gains.
Rise up and deliver our land before it becomes too late.
