REPORT OF THE NYCN AGBADO OKE-ODO LOCAL CHAPTER SECOND QUARTER MANAGEMENT MEETING

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Agbado Oke-Odo Local Chapter, successfully held its Second Quarter Management Meeting on Sunday, 26th July 2026, at the Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Secretariat.

The meeting brought together leaders, executives and representatives of affiliated youth organisations to review activities, strengthen collaboration and plan future programmes.

Highlights of the meeting included:

- Presentation of reports by affiliated youth organisations on their activities over the last three months.
- Updates on ongoing NYCN programmes, including the Drug Abuse Campaign, anti-cultism campaign and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation initiative.
- A report on the Lagos Youth Symposium held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where the chapter participated alongside top government officials.
- Valuable advice from respected leaders on unity, youth empowerment, environmental responsibility and increased participation in NYCN activities.
- Assurance from the Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Hon. Fisfad, to engage the LCDA leadership on the provision of an official bus, a permanent secretariat and improved welfare for the chapter.
- Constitution of the 2026 International Youth Day (IYD) Planning Committee, with Comrade Omobolaji Ishola appointed as Chairman.

The meeting ended with renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work together for the progress of the youth and sustainable development within Agbado Oke-Odo.

Together, we remain committed to building a stronger and more united youth movement.

Yesterday I led Youth of Agbado Oke Odo to The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter to join other youth in Lagos State, to the Youth and Governance Symposium 2.0 on Friday, 19th June 2026, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The symposium brought together thousands of young people, policymakers, government officials, youth leaders, and stakeholders to discuss youth inclusion in governance and democratic participation.

The event was organized to strengthen the relationship between young people and policymakers, promote civic engagement, and encourage active participation of youths in leadership and governance processes across Lagos State and Nigeria. The symposium also served as a platform for constructive dialogue on accountability, leadership development, and sustainable youth empowerment. In attendance was the Dr. Obafemi Hamzat(Deputy Governor), Sen. Oluranti Adebule (Senator representing Lagos west), Hon. Lasbat Meeranda(Deputy speaker LAHA), Hon. Ogunlende (commissioner for Youth and social development ) amongst others

In his address, the Chairman of NYCN Lagos State, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in governance, noting that young people possess the numerical strength and capacity to influence political outcomes and contribute meaningfully to national development. He urged youths to move beyond social media engagement and actively participate in political and leadership processes.

The symposium featured keynote presentations, interactive panel discussions, and engagement sessions with government representatives and youth advocates. Discussions focused on youth representation in governance, democratic participation, leadership development, policy advocacy, and strategies for increasing youth inclusion in decision-making processes.

Participants were encouraged to take advantage of available opportunities within government and civil society to contribute to nation-building. The event also provided networking opportunities for emerging leaders, youth organizations, and stakeholders committed to advancing youth development. Also, NYCN ward champions was unveiled by the Deputy governor.

At the conclusion of the symposium, participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting good governance, active citizenship, and sustainable development through increased youth participation in public affairs. The NYCN Lagos State Chapter reiterated its dedication to creating platforms that empower young people and amplify their voices in governance.

*GRAND FINALE REPORT: NYCN I.T SUPPORT OUTREACH PROGRAM AT MEIRAN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL*

The curtains have officially closed on the highly impactful NYCN I.T Support Outreach Program, organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Chapter, in partnership with TORESTTECH, and what an incredible success it has been!

The two-day outreach program culminated today at Meiran Community High School, leaving behind a lasting impression on students, teachers, and the entire school community. Throughout the program, students were exposed to the world of Information Technology, digital opportunities, and the skills required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven society.

The enthusiasm, participation, and eagerness displayed by the students were truly inspiring and reaffirmed the importance of investing in technology education at the grassroots level.

As a demonstration of its commitment to fostering digital learning and ensuring continuity beyond the outreach, TORESTTECH generously donated a laptop computer to Meiran Community High School. This donation will serve as a practical learning tool, enabling students to continue practicing and developing their digital skills long after the program has ended.

In addition, notebooks and writing materials were distributed to participating students to support their educational journey and encourage continuous learning.

The success of this outreach is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations come together with a shared vision of empowering young people through education, innovation, and technology.

We express our heartfelt appreciation to the management, staff, and students of Meiran Community High School for their cooperation and warm reception. We also extend our profound gratitude to TORESTTECH for their partnership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to youth development. *NYCN I.T SUPPORT OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS (DAY 1)*

Today 3rd June,2026 marked the successful commencement of the NYCN I.T Support Outreach Program, organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Chapter, in collaboration with TORESTECH, at Meiran Community High School.

The outreach was designed to expose students to the vast opportunities available in Information Technology and equip them with foundational digital skills necessary for success in today’s technology-driven world.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and enthusiasm as students actively participated in the interactive sessions. Facilitators introduced the students to the fundamentals of Information Technology, digital literacy, career opportunities in tech, and the importance of leveraging technology for personal and national development.

The students demonstrated remarkable interest, curiosity, and eagerness to learn, making the first day a resounding success. The engagement and positive feedback received further reinforced the importance of bringing technology education closer to young people within our communities.

This initiative is part of NYCN’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and capacity building, ensuring that young people are not left behind in the rapidly evolving digital age.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Hon. Fisayo Fadipe (supervisor for youth & sports, Agbado Okeodo LCDA), management, staff, and students of Meiran Community High School for their warm reception and active participation.
