Youth Alive is Back!!!!!!!

Again and Again we have every reason to thank God Almighty for making the week long program (24th to 30th of May, 2021) a very glorious one that surpasses our imaginations. If we have a thousand tongues it still won't be enough to thank Him.

The entire Youth Alive team had a very demanding week. From virtual sessions to on court basketball activities. The event brought together folks with undiluted passion for sports/basketball. Truly, the game is like a magnet that brings people together in respective of age, status, gender, race etc.

In line with Youth Alive mandate to create a platform that will help in the discovery, development & deployment of talents, this last week gave basketball players within Lagos, Osun, Ekiti & Ogun States the opportunity to display their skills sets in a friendly & competitive manner. Coaches also had the opportunity to interact & learn from different subject matter experts during the virtual sessions.

Special thanks to all the divinely arranged people that volunteered in different capacities to make the event a success. Sincere appreciation also to “Honeywell”, they showed up in an unprecedented way on the last day to give us products support as gifts to winners and some guests. Many thanks as we look forward to more mutual & supportive relationship.

The virtual sessions wrapped up yesterday. We had the likes of Coach Oladipo Johnson & Mr Femi Adefeso on board. They both took us through some interesting subjects around nurturing of talents and the importance of media within grassroot basketball space. It was very educative & interactive.

Today, we move to on court activities. The 14 under category will show case their skills at Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos. It going to be electrifying & fast pace considering the fact that we are adopting the 3x3 basketball format.

Day two, done & dusted.
Some key takeaways from the facilitators:

1. It very important for youth basketball Coaches to develop capacity that will help them to effectively manage the human side of referees/officials to aid the perception of their players.

2. Youth Coaches are expected to take full responsibilities of their players attitudes on & off the basketball court.

3. For the game to grow, a community base approach must be adopted. Case study: The Ajegunle basketball infrastructure/developmental approach.

4. For basketball to become a business (that will attract multiple sponsors) in Nigeria, there must be a structure behind the game.

Day one session was very interactive & informative.
The National Coordinator (Mr Gbade Olatona) of Youth Alive Sports gave a splendid welcome address to set the tone for the entire event.

Special thanks to all the speakers & participants, we all look forward to another interesting virtual session tomorrow.

Good day All,

I would like to welcome you all (Coaches/Administrators/Parents) to 2021 Youth Alive Basketball Program.

This years Program is quite different from previous editions as the attached event banner & program outline indicate.

There will be a series of Online Seminars to prepare us on how to get our youths aligned with the Program of events.

You are advised to make yourselves available for the time specified and if possible,your players can also be part of it using their smart phones/Laptops or other media.

All questions on the modalities will also be answered during the Seminars.
