1 of 6 schools reached in Abia State!

Our goal is to provide 3,000 sanitary pads across the state — 500 have already been distributed, with 2,500 more to go.

In partnership with Servewell , we kicked off our pilot project in this school by:
âś” Distributing sanitary pads to all female students and staff
âś” Establishing a sustainable pad bank
âś” Conducting menstrual hygiene education sessions

Our next phase is to ensure access to proper sanitation by providing functional toilet facilities and running water for the students.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our partners, Servewell, for their support in making this impact possible.

We are open to partnerships as we work to reach 5 more schools. Together, we can do more.

A period-friendly Nigeria is possible — and it starts with you and I.

:

As part of our commitment to achieving a period-friendly Abia State, we recently carried out our first outreach for the year 1026  in partnership with Servewell at Uzuakwu Community College in Abia state .

During this impactful outreach, we distributed 500+ reusable sanitary pads to both students and staff, established a functional pad bank, and conducted menstrual hygiene education sessions for both boys and girls. In addition, questionnaires were administered to assess the depth and realities of period poverty within the community.

Looking ahead, our goal is to reach 3,000 students across 6 schools— 2 from each senatorial district in Abia State—between now and the upcoming Period Equity Summit (date to be announced).

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our partners at Servewell for their support and collaboration. We also welcome partnerships and sponsorships from individuals and organizations who share our vision.
The next phase of this project would be to provide the school with functioning toilets and running water , the lack of access to a period friendly facility is also a form of period poverty

Together, a period-friendly Abia is possible.

We are proud to announce our Period Equity Outreach / Pilot Study in partnership with Servewell , taking place at Uzuaku Community Secondary School, Ukwa West LGA, Abia State.

This is not just an outreach — it is the implementation of our policy proposal recommendations in a real school setting.

📌 What this pilot includes:

âś… Comprehensive menstrual hygiene education for both boys and girls

âś… Distribution of reusable sanitary pads to all 609+ female students and staff

âś… Renovation of school toilets to become period-friendly facilities

âś… Access to clean water and proper hand-washing systems

âś… Establishment of a sustainable Pad Bank within the school

This project serves as a model intervention, demonstrating how practical period equity solutions can be implemented effectively in government schools.

And this doesn’t end here…

đź“… In April, we will be hosting a Period Equity Summit, where key state stakeholders will be invited to review the outcomes of this pilot and discuss scaling these recommendations across public schools in Abia State.

A very major role in this intervention is being played by Servewell, whose partnership is helping turn policy into action.

Period equity is not charity.

It is dignity.

It is access.

It is policy in action.

Did you know?
Over 37 million women in Nigeria do not have access to sanitary products, and girls make up over 60% of out-of-school children, largely due to period poverty. Many are forced to use tissues, cotton wool, or even leaves to manage their periods.
