I’ve completed the 𝗖𝗣𝗗‑𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 “𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀” course on 247 skill UK, and have been awarded a certificate! 🎓 Over nine intensive modules, I’ve deepened my understanding of:
The Aggression Curve: Recognizing Early Warning Signs Before Behaviours Escalate.
The SCARF Model: Leveraging Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, and Fairness to de‑escalate tension.
Government Advice & Guidance: Aligning interventions with the latest statutory frameworks and policy directives.
Duty of Care & Legal Boundaries: Knowing precisely when and how restraint is lawful—and when it isn’t.
Physical Intervention & Restraint Techniques: Best‑practice methods to keep pupils and staff safe, grounded in both theory and real‑world case studies.
Screening, Searching & Confiscation: Balancing safety with respect for students’ rights.
This course didn’t just reinforce established protocols—it challenged me to reflect on traditional approaches and blend them with forward‑looking strategies for trauma‑informed practice. I’m already integrating these insights into my work with schools, ensuring every decision prioritizes dignity, safety, and learning.
A heartfelt thank you to Haroun Gbenga Oyero - Otunba for believing in me and making this opportunity possible. Your support continues to drive my commitment to excellence in safeguarding.
I’d love to hear: which de‑escalation techniques or legal insights have you found most impactful in your practice? Let’s share experiences and raise the bar for safe, supportive schools everywhere.

The things we brushed off as a kid, the wisdom, the warnings, the rules, all turn out to be survival tactics. Every choice costs, every shortcut backfires, and every lesson repeats until we finally listen.
Our parents weren't exaggerating, they were preparing us 😰.
