CoP is a global network of peace creators Creators of Peace International (CoP) is a global network of peace creators.

It was launched at Caux, Switzerland in 1991 as a international women’s initiative that challenges women everywhere to:
- Share responsibility for their part in the perpetration of conflict and in its resolution
- Engage in the creation of peace at every level of society
- Break the chains of hate and revenge
- Build networks of forgiveness and friendship across racial, religious and social divides. BACKGROUND
The Creators of Peace (CoP) initiative was launched in 1991 at the
Initiatives of Change conference centre in Caux, Switzerland by the
Hon. Anna Abdallah Msekwa of Tanzania, a respected politician and
leader of her country’s women’s organizations. In her inaugural speech,
she urged everyone to ‘create peace wherever we are, in our hearts,
our homes, our workplace and our community. We all pretend that
someone else is the stumbling block…Could that someone be myself?’
CoP is now a global network of people working on different continents
through conferences – Caux, Switzerland ’91 and ’94, India 2001 and
Uganda 2005 – and through workshops, personal encounters, community
building activities and Peace Circles. A delegation attended the UN
Women’s Conference in Beijing (1995).

🕊️ A New Chapter for Creators of Peace Indonesia

This week, Creators of Peace Indonesia held its first Peace Circle taster session under the new Indonesian team in Bandung.

Thirteen women came together to share their stories, listen deeply and learn from one another. 🌺

Male participants from the accompanying Men’s Learning Circle also joined the wider space, creating an opportunity for dialogue, shared learning and greater understanding between different perspectives. 💛

At the heart of Creators of Peace are Peace Circles. Spaces where women can build trust, strengthen relationships and explore how they can become catalysts for peace and positive change in their communities. 🤍

This taster marks the beginning of a wider journey for the Indonesia team, leading towards a larger Peace Circle planned for later this year.

🌿✨ This summer at the Caux Forum, we heard powerful reflections from Afghan women who had taken part in a Peace Circle in Caux earlier this year.

Their heartfelt stories remind us of the power of creating safe spaces where women can listen deeply, build trust and discover hope through dialogue. 🤍

A heartfelt thank you to Sarah for so thoughtfully facilitating this moving conversation and to for creating and hosting the space where these meaningful dialogues could continue.

CoP in Syria 🇸🇾

In Damascus, Peace Circles brought together Syrian-Kurdish women and other Syrians in a space of listening, learning and connection. Together, they explored topics such as displacement, cultural diversity and the fear of losing identity.

The recent war has shown how important it is for Syrians to meet beyond assumptions and inherited stories. These conversations opened doors to deeper understanding and helped build bridges by creating spaces for genuine connection.

Together, they spoke about refugees, different cultures and the fear of losing identity. Through these honest conversations, they discovered how much we share as human beings. They were also joined by a German friend familiar with IofC, whose presence added richness and another perspective to the dialogue.

When we sit together with open hearts and listen to one another, peace becomes possible. It is in these shared spaces that we find common ground and begin building a future rooted in understanding and hope. 🕊️

CoP in Sweden 🇸🇪

Last month, six women living in Sweden with roots in Somalia, Liberia, Eritrea and England came together for a weekend of reflection, dialogue and connection to explore how women can create peace within themselves and around them.

In a space of openness and honesty they shared their personal experiences, challenges and triumphs. Through laughter and tears they reflected on how the events of their lives shaped them and those around, and how the trauma we carry needs to be acknowledged and brought into the open so that healing can take place.

Although coming from different backgrounds, they found common ground in their commitment to building peace in their families, communities and society.

We are grateful for the courage, openness and wisdom shared throughout the weekend. Peace begins within each of us and grows through connection with others. ✨🌿
