Gentlemen of the Press,
Ladies and Gentlemen.
INTRODUCTION
It is my distinct honor and privilege, to welcome you all on behalf of the Governing Council to the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Annual National Management Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
To our distinguished guests who have traveled from across the country and around the globe to be here today, we say Ekabo, Sannu da Zuwa, Nno. Welcome to this premier gathering of minds dedicated to shaping the future of leadership and management in Nigeria.
2. Celebrating 65 Years of Management Excellence
This year's conference holds a special place in our history, as it coincides with a monumental milestone: NIM at 65.
For six and a half decades, this Institute has served as the bedrock of management practice in Nigeria. From its inception in 1961 to its chartered status today, NIM has continuously raised the standard of corporate governance, administrative efficiency, and institutional integrity across both the public and private sectors.
Over these 65 years, NIM’s contributions to national development have been undeniable:
* Professionalizing Governance: Transforming thousands of public and private sector leaders through rigorous training, certification, and executive education.
* Upholding Ethical Leadership: Enforcing a firm Code of Ethics to build accountable institutions free from corruption and inefficiency.
* Thought Leadership & Policy Guidance: Providing evidence-based advisories and strategic frameworks to guide national economic policies and civil service reform.
3. A Call to Government and the Private Sector
As we celebrate 65 years of impact, we must also look ahead. The complex economic and social landscape of today demands a tighter alignment between professional institutions and national leadership.
I make a solemn appeal to the Federal and State Governments, as well as leaders in the private sector, to more actively engage and support the Nigerian Institute of Management:
* Tap Into Our Knowledge Repository: NIM houses six and a half decades of strategic management research, policy insights, and practical administrative models. We urge government decision-makers to draw directly from this rich vault when designing national policies.
* Leverage Our Multiprofessional Strength: Our membership spans every key sector—military, medicine, engineering, law, education, finance, and public administration. This multi-disciplinary diversity makes NIM a unique hub for holistic, cross-sectoral solutions. We urge corporate bodies and government agencies to mandate NIM training and certification for their executive cadres.
4. Partnering for the Next Generation
The task of building a prosperous and self-sustaining nation cannot be achieved in silos.
The Nigerian Institute of Management stands fully prepared to deepen its partnerships with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), corporate organizations, and international partners. Our objective is clear: to build resilient management systems, drive public sector efficiency, and nurture a culture of accountability.
Together with all stakeholders, local and international, we must unite in our collective quest—to bequeath a better, stronger, and better-managed Nigeria to the next generation of leaders and managers.

Distinguished guests, ladies, and gentlemen, as we mark 65 years of excellence at this conference, I invite you to engage passionately in the sessions ahead, share insights, and collaborate on actionable solutions.
