As a member of ECOSOC, OIFN had the privilege of attending Day 1 of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women ( ). The discussions offered valuable insights on strengthening access to justice for women and girls. One key message stood out clearly: justice must go beyond written laws and exist within systems that women and girls can safely, confidently, and meaningfully access.

These conversations strongly resonate with the mission of OIFN, which advocates for inclusion, equal rights, and access to services for people living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta—particularly women and girls who often face multiple layers of barriers.

Ensuring that justice systems, policies, and communities are inclusive and responsive is essential to advancing dignity, equity, and participation for all.

We look forward to continued dialogue, partnerships, and collaboration throughout the week.

Informed by careful research within the OI community, a powerful and consistent need has emerged: the importance of mental health support.

Thriving, Not Just Surviving highlights the critical role of mental health intervention for people living with OI. This event creates a compassionate and inclusive space to address emotional well-being, encourage early support, and empower individuals, families, and caregivers to build resilience, deepen understanding, and sustain hope.

Help Us Strengthen Bones, Restore Hope, and Save Lives!

As a foundation committed to supporting people living with brittle bone disease in low-resource countries like Nigeria, we face a significant challenge: accessing one of the most essential medicines for treatment—bisphosphonates (Zoledronic Acid). These medications are vital for strengthening bones and preventing fractures; however, they are rarely available locally and must be sourced internationally, making them both costly and challenging to obtain.

Bisphosphonate medication is truly life-changing for people living with a rare condition, as it helps increase bone density, reduces the frequency and severity of fractures, eases chronic pain, and could dramatically improve mobility, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals who would otherwise face repeated injuries and lifelong disability.

Currently, many of our patients are due for their scheduled treatment. Without timely access to these medications, their health and safety are at serious risk. We urgently appeal to partners, other oi organisations, donors, and compassionate individuals to help us secure a steady supply of bisphosphonates from international sources.

Your support will have a direct and profound impact on vulnerable patients who rely on this treatment to live stronger, safer, and more fulfilling lives.

Together, we can save a life.
