With the introduction of Health and Safety in the primary and secondary school curriculum, it is now more important than ever to equip teachers and educators with the knowledge and skills to teach children these critical safety topics.

That is exactly what Train-2-Teach was created to do.

Cohort IV is open and accepting applications right now. If you are a teacher, school administrator, NYSC member, or anyone working with children, this is your opportunity to be part of something that is already changing lives.

The training is free. The impact is real.

“Not responding is a response, we are equally responsible for what we don't do.” – Jonathan Safran Foer

In the workplace, silence can be just as dangerous as the hazard itself. Every day, workers notice something; a loose wire, a wet floor, a colleague skipping their PPE, an unsafe practice quietly becoming routine, and say nothing. Not out of malice, but out of habit, out of the fear of speaking up, or out of the assumption that someone else will handle it.

But that assumption has cost lives. When we choose not to report, not to intervene, not to raise the alarm, we are making a decision just as much as the person who created the hazard in the first place. Inaction is never neutral. In safety, silence has consequences.

At Actions for Safety and Health, we believe that a safe workplace is a shared responsibility, and that responsibility does not begin only when something goes wrong. It begins the moment you notice something and choose what to do next. You do not need a title or a safety role to speak up. You need only the understanding that your voice could be the difference between a near-miss and a tragedy.

This week, we are calling on every worker, every supervisor, and every organisation to close the gap between what they see and what they do. See something. Say something. Act. Because not responding is still a response, and we are all accountable for it.

Is safety negotiable when you are an expert?

We recently came across a post suggesting that experience is a substitute for safety precautions. That because you have done something for years, the rules no longer apply to you.
We strongly disagree.

Experience does not make you immune to accidents. It only means you have been fortunate enough to avoid them, so far. The moment safety becomes optional is the moment risk becomes inevitable.
No level of expertise eliminates hazard. It only changes how well you recognise it, and that is exactly why the precautions still matter.

What do you think? Is safety ever negotiable?

"Working safely is like breathing – if you don't, you die." – Jerry Smith

A new week has begun, and across the country, millions of workers are rising early, tying their boots, picking up their tools, and stepping into their workplaces ready to give the day their best. Whether you are on a construction site, behind a machine, in a hospital ward, or managing a busy office, every task you perform today carries a responsibility that goes beyond productivity. It carries the responsibility of coming home whole.

Safety is not a checklist you tick at the start of a shift; it is the quiet discipline that runs beneath every action, every decision, and every movement you make on the job. Just as you would never hold your breath through an entire workday, you must never set safety aside, not even for a moment.

At Actions for Safety and Health, we are reminding every worker stepping out this Monday that your life is the most important asset you bring to work. No deadline, no target, and no instruction from a superior is worth compromising your wellbeing. Speak up when conditions are unsafe. Wear your PPE. Follow the procedures. Look out for your colleague beside you.

A productive week and a safe week are not in conflict, they are the same week, lived with intention. Go out there, do great work, and come back safely.

This International Women's Day, we celebrate every woman who shows up, not for recognition, but out of love, duty, and an unshakeable commitment to keeping others safe.

From the mother at home who is her family's first line of defence, to the teacher in the classroom building knowledge that saves lives, to the community champion, the health worker, the safety officer, the policymaker, women everywhere are quietly and powerfully making the world a safer place.

This year's International Women's Day theme is a reminder that when women are given the space, resources, and support to thrive, entire communities gain. Every skill shared, every life taught, every sacrifice made by a woman ripples outward in ways we cannot always measure but will always feel.

At Actions for Safety and Health (Train-2-Teach Programme), we see this every day in the women who give their time and knowledge to teach first aid, safety, health literacy, and so much more, because they understand that what you give to others, the world gains back.

To every woman doing the work, seen and unseen, Happy International Women's Day. This is your season.
