Generation Initiative for Women and Youth Network - GIWYN Strenthening, educating and empowering women and youths

Generation Initiative for Women and Youth Network (GIWYN) is a non profit, non governmental organization incorporated in Nigeria. Our work is based on the principle that every woman and youth has the right to the highest standard of living, the right to safe reproductive health choices, right to accessible health care and an enabling environment that promotes their fundamental human right.

GIWYN is known for defending access to safe reproductive healthcare. But over years of walking alongside women, we learned the same lesson again and again: reproductive coercion and gender-based violence are the same story, told in different rooms. So we brought our response to gender-based violence into the heart of our reproductive-health work

Introducing GIWYN’s response to gender-based violence — and the journey we walk with every survivor. A woman who reaches out to us rarely arrives with a single problem. The violence in her home is tangled with control over her body, her income, her children and her ability to leave at all. For t...

A dispatch from the Abortion and Reproductive Justice Conference, NairobiShe did not walk into our office. She ran. Six months pregnant, with a six-month-old baby tied to her back, she had been chased out of her home by a husband who beat her when she came back too tired to finish the housework. She...

Periods are health. ❣️ Periods are normal. Periods are power.💪 Young people are done with the whispers and the shame — it’s time to speak up. This is your call to action: Normalise Periods Today. Say it out loud, break the silence, and let everyone hear that menstruation isn’t a secret or a problem.

Take the pledge now, then share this post with the message “I normalise periods", "Menstruation is normal.” ❣️❣️

Every share, every voice, every post chips away stigma and builds a world where young people get the facts, respect, and care they deserve. Young people are taking back control over their own health! 💪🫶

On this May 28th — the International Day of Action for Women’s Health — we stand with partners across the world to take action.

We raise our voices to say: Healthcare is Essential, not Optional.
Women and girls, especially at the grassroots level, must be heard, speak openly about their health without shame, and have the right to make decisions about their own bodies and lives.

When a mother in the market and a girl in school know their rights and are listened to, the entire community becomes stronger.

Join us in defending women’s voices, health, and dignity — because when we protect our women, we protect our families and our future.

Agreed! People don’t live their lives in isolation. So why do we break healthcare into pieces?
Health doesn’t start at the clinic door. It starts in homes, schools, streets, and movements.

Feminist actors are already delivering care with information, safety, dignity, and community. It’s time our systems caught up. We need healthcare that’s connected, not broken. Feminist, not clinical-only. Health + social + justice.

Because health isn’t just a prescription. It’s a whole life.
