What does protection look like for civic actors today?

For us at Women's rights And Health Project , it means creating safe spaces where human rights defenders, journalists, activists, and grassroots actors can openly discuss the realities they face, from digital threats and legal risks to burnout and safeguarding challenges, while gaining practical tools to strengthen their resilience.

Over the course of one week, WRAHP convened 47 civic actors across Lagos and Edo States for an intensive Safety & Digital Protection Training focused on:
✔️ Physical safety
✔️ Digital protection
✔️ Legal and regulatory compliance
✔️ Safeguarding systems
✔️ Psychosocial wellbeing

Beyond the sessions and presentations, the training became a space for honesty, reflection, shared experiences, and collective learning. Participants not only strengthened their practical knowledge but also built deeper networks of support and solidarity.

In a time of evolving civic challenges, protecting civic actors goes beyond security tools, it also means building resilient people, stronger systems, and safer communities for those who continue to defend rights and serve others.

We appreciate all facilitators, participants, and partners who contributed to the success of this training.

Today, we’re celebrating our people. 💜

To our WRAHP team —our Board, staff, volunteers, and community advocates — and workers everywhere, thank you for the work you do every day, often behind the scenes, to support others and make our communities safer and better.

We see the effort. We appreciate it. Your impact matters more than you know.

Happy Workers’ Day.

Across classrooms in Lagos State, important conversations were sparked, myths were challenged, and young voices were heard. ✨

In March 2026, WRAHP, under the Ireti Young Leadership Program, with support from AB Microfinance Bank, implemented a Menstrual Health Education and Support Initiative across schools in Alimosho, Ojo, and Badagry LGAs.

Through interactive sessions, students learned about puberty, menstrual health, hygiene, and respectful peer behaviour. Girls received menstrual hygiene materials, while boys were engaged as allies in ending stigma.

We reached 1,614 students across 6 schools— 1,139 girls and 475 boys.

Because this work is bigger than product distribution. It is about knowledge, dignity, confidence, and changing the narrative.

Thank you, AB Microfinance Bank, for making this impact possible. 🤝

A new chapter begins. 💜

WRAHP is proud to be part of the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria Project, with support from Nigeria

This 5-year initiative will advance gender equality for women and girls in Lagos State by increasing access to justice for survivors of gender-based violence, expanding sexual and reproductive health and rights knowledge, improving access to mental health support, and create sustainable economic opportunities for women. It will also strengthen community structures and community based organizations institutional capacity to deliver gender-responsive services effectively.

Funded by Canada’s International Development – Global Affairs Canada

Together, we continue advancing the rights, dignity, and voices of women and girls.

Stay with us on the journey.

C-Section is not failure. It is birth. 💜

Every woman’s pregnancy and delivery journey is different. In some cases, a C-section is the safest option for protecting both mother and baby.

No woman should be judged or shamed for how she gives birth. What matters most is safe delivery, good care, and healthy outcomes.

This C-Section Awareness Month, let’s replace stigma with understanding and support.

Let’s clear the confusion — menopause is full of myths.

Many women go through this phase without the right information, often surrounded by silence and misinformation.

It’s time to separate myth from fact and create space for honest, informed conversations.

Menopause is natural, and every woman’s experience is valid, but understanding it makes all the difference.

💬 Which of these myths have you heard before?

Happy Easter ✝️

At WRAHP we recognize the Easter season as a symbol of resurrection and we extend this significance to all our partners, supporters and beneficiaries.

We pray this season gives a sign of resurrection in all our endeavors.

Menopause is not the end of womanhood it’s a new phase of strength, wisdom, and self-understanding.

A phase that deserves understanding, care, and open conversation, not silence or stigma.
Let’s show up for women in this season of life with empathy and support.
