The BFC Development Foundation

The BFC Development Foundation The Bake for Change Development Foundation is a not for profit non-governmental organization that focuses on youth empowerment & education in Lagos Nigeria

The Bake for Change Development Foundation is a not for profit organization that was formed by four friends in June 2010. The idea for the club was born out of the passion for baking shared amongst its members, coupled with the desire to spread this passion to less privileged members of society that are not ordinarily exposed to baking. With the help of donors, supporters and volunteers, Bake for

Change has expanded its activities from solely baking activities into commissioning projects aimed at spreading love and improving the standards of the facilities that are dear to the group, empowering and educating the Youth in Lagos State, Nigeria. The main objectives of the group remain touching lives through the shared passion for baking, increasing awareness for overlooked social plights, and supporting various charities and initiatives that share common goals and principles with Bake for Change.

As part of our commitment to meaningful impact, we collaborated with the Inner Wheel Club of Lagos on the Wall of Kindness Initiative at Ikota Health Center. The space was filled with thoughtfully donated pre-loved clothes, kitchen essentials, and food items, all made freely available to families in the community.

Beyond the items shared, it was the atmosphere of warmth, gratitude, and genuine human connection that stood out. Seeing families choose what they needed with dignity and the joy that filled the space was a powerful reminder of how small acts of generosity can deeply touch lives.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed. Thank you for choosing kindness and helping us turn simple donations into moments that truly mattered.

Every new year brings a fresh page, an opportunity for dreams to grow, for hope to shine brighter, and for every child to see that their future is still theirs to create.

At The BFC Development Foundation, we believe no story is ever finished. With love, care, and opportunity, children can discover the strength to imagine new beginnings and become more than their circumstances.

As we begin this new chapter, we remain committed to empowering, educating, and restoring dignity one dream, one child, one step at a time. Here’s to a year of courage, growth, and beautiful possibilities.

Happy New Year from all of us at The BFC Development Foundation

This Christmas, we’re celebrating something deeper than decorations and gifts. We’re celebrating the children who are growing, learning, and discovering themselves.

At The BFC Foundation, we believe in their future and we’re here to help them build it, one word, one win, one warm moment at a time.

Merry Christmas from all of us.

After the brushes were rinsed and the paint began to dry, there was one more gift to share: hygiene packs for every boy.

Each pack wasn’t just soap and toothpaste; it was a reminder that self-care matters, that dignity begins with the small things, and that they are worthy of being cared for.

We also spent time talking about personal hygiene and how taking care of your body is another way to honour yourself and remain confident.

The smiles that followed said it all. For many of the boys, this simple act of kindness meant being seen, not as statistics, but as young men deserving of love, respect, and a fresh start.

At Bake for Change, empowerment isn’t only about what we teach but about how we make people feel. 💜

Behind Every Brushstroke, There Was a Helping Hand.

Long before the first splash of colour hit the canvas, there were volunteers mixing paint, setting up easels, encouraging shy smiles, and cheering the boys on.

They weren’t just helping with art; they were helping shape confidence, laughter, and hope.

From guiding hesitant hands to celebrating every finished piece, our incredible volunteers made this Sip & Paint more than an event. They made it a safe space for the boys to dream again.

Because of you, all the boys changed their self-perception after realising they could produce something beautiful.

We appreciate your presence, your profound concern, and the love and compassion you bring. 💜

"Can I hang mine in the dorm?"

That was one of the first questions we heard when the brushes went down.

By the end of the Sip & Paint, 89 boys had painted 89 artworks, each one loud with colour, courage, and the kind of pride you can’t fake.

One of the social workers smiled and said they’ll hang the paintings on the dorm walls so the boys wake up every morning to a reminder that they are capable, worthy, and more than their past.

What started as a quiet art session turned into something deeper. Healing. Joy. Confidence. A room full of young men rediscovering what’s possible.

Sometimes, all it takes is a brush, a canvas, and someone who believes you can still create something beautiful. 💜

Our 2025 Sip & Paint was more than an art session. It was a day of self-discovery, healing, and hope. 💜

All 89 boys created beautiful works of art, each one a reflection of courage and possibility.

One of the boys, Tunde, said something that stayed with us:

“I was so excited… I’ve never drawn with paint before. But today, I was proud of myself for doing this.”

His words perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the day: self-assurance, happiness, and the conviction that "I can."

Beyond painting, we also distributed hygiene packs and gave a quick health lecture on self-care because self-esteem is largely determined by how we treat ourselves.

As we celebrate 15 years of Bake for Change, we are committed to rewriting stories, restoring dignity, and creating spaces where every child can shine in colour and confidence.

Sometimes, fun looks like a paintbrush. Sometimes, dignity looks like colour-stained hands and pride-filled eyes.

At our 2025 Sip & Paint held at the Special Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun, blank canvases turned into stories of courage, colour, and second chances.

The boys discovered new ways to see themselves. We were all surprised by how much they enjoyed the activity. They were proud, saying painting made them feel like they had achieved something tangible. 🥹

As we celebrate 15 years of Bake for Change, this moment reminded us of our vision to rewrite stories, restore dignity, and paint brighter future. 💜

Join us as we continue to turn broken beginnings into beautiful new stories.

Girls deserve more than silence. They deserve to be heard, supported, and given the tools to thrive.

Today, we celebrate every girl who’s stepping into her power with courage, confidence, and community behind her.

Independence is more than a date; it’s a daily hope. It’s the hope that every child will be seen, supported, and given the tools to dream beyond walls and labels.

This October 1st, we celebrate a nation rich in promise and the young voices rising to carry that promise forward.

From all of us at the BFC Foundation, Happy Independence Day.

We were deeply honoured to have the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK), at our 2025 Spelling Bee & Reading Competition alongside key leaders from the Ministry.

Their visit was a show of belief in the children we serve and a reminder that when government and grassroots stand together, real change happens.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Jayeola, Director of Social Welfare, and Mrs. Agnes Olaore, Director of Correctional Services.

For over 15 years, our collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has remained one of the strongest pillars of our work. The support from the ministry, directors, and heads of these homes has been constant and deeply rooted in a shared belief in the children we serve. Even now, a decade and a half later, we remain grateful for a partnership that shows up consistently, compassionately, and without hesitation every time we call.
