Our Story

The Institute of Voluntary Sector Management is the professional membership body for management practitioners working in the voluntary sector and those responsible for corporate social responsibilities within the Private Sector of the Nigerian economy. It also promises to provide the much needed platform for nurturing value-driven, young social entrepreneurs, creating volunteering and employment opportunities for the teeming youths and encouraging high net worth Nigerians to put structure to their giving, by setting up charitable foundations. In summary, it covers all those professionals working in the Third Sector of the Nigerian economy. Our members are responsible for the leadership, management and administration of people, systems and processes within voluntary, Non-governmental, not-for profit organisations with strong social value bases. Their roles are vital in enabling those organisations achieve sustainability and improved outcomes for their clients. Our mission is to support management practitioners and their community and voluntary sector organisations, through leadership, training, capacity building, representation, standards-setting and education, and we champion and promote working in the community and voluntary sector as a career choice. Policy & Advocacy We aim to be an influential voice for practitioners within the voluntary and community sector and to be an expert policy lead on volunteerism, fundraising and wider giving. Our policy team will work to deliver a strong representative voice on behalf of individual and organisational members that influences and effects change for the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) professionals wherever it is needed.
