CHESS AS A CORRECTIONAL TOOL IS EXPANDING..♟️

What started at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre has become something much bigger than we imagined.

After the incredible success of our Chess as a Correctional Tool Initiative at Kirikiri Medium Custodial Center in collaboration with Chess To School, we are taking the game to a new frontier, Kirikiri Female Custodial Centre..

And yes, this is another FIRST IN NIGERIA..🇳🇬

We believe chess is more than just a game. It teaches patience, discipline, critical thinking, strategy, decision-making and the courage to think several moves ahead..

If chess can help transform minds, then every mind deserves the opportunity to experience it.

From the male custodial centre to the female custodial centre, we are continuing to prove that rehabilitation knows no gender and second chances know no boundaries..

This is another step in our commitment to using innovative tools to support reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration..

The board is set.
The pieces are moving.
And a new chapter begins..

We returned to Ilesa Custodial Centre and once again witnessed the power of empowerment, creativity and second chances..

Following the successful completion of our Painting Empowerment Programme at the Ilesa Custodial Centre, the Anchor Heritage Initiative team proceeded to the Ondo Female Custodial Centre to extend our PAD AN INMATE Initiative.

It was a truly fulfilling experience as we distributed sanitary pads and detergents to every female inmate in the custodial centre. Menstrual hygiene is a basic necessity, not a privilege and we remain committed to promoting health and reminding every inmate that they are seen, valued and not forgotten.

We sincerely appreciate the management and entire staff of the Ondo Female Custodial Centre for their warm reception, cooperation, and support throughout the outreach.

Our special appreciation also goes to the Controller of the Ondo State Command, Nigeria Correctional Service for the encouragement, support and commitment to initiatives that promote the welfare and rehabilitation of inmates.

Together, we are restoring hope, one life at a time.

Our hearts are full of gratitude as we officially conclude our Ilesa Painting Empowerment 2.0..
For five impactful days, we didn't just teach paint production and painting skills; we witnessed transformation, teamwork, hope, and purpose. After Day 5, the inmates of the Ilesa Custodial Centre proudly repainted the walls of their own facility, a powerful reminder that when people are empowered with knowledge and opportunity, they can create lasting change.

Eight years after our first empowerment at this same custodial centre, it is deeply fulfilling to see another set of inmates continuing that legacy with their own hands.

We sincerely appreciate the Nigeria Correctional Service and the management of the Ilesa Custodial Centre for their unwavering support, warm reception and commitment to rehabilitation through meaningful partnerships.
Thank you for believing in the vision and for giving us the opportunity to make a difference together.

To every inmate who participated with enthusiasm and dedication, thank you for embracing this opportunity. We believe the skills you have acquired will continue to open doors long after today.

Together, we are proving that rehabilitation is possible, empowerment works, and hope can always be restored..

Day 4 of our Painting Empowerment Workshop at the Ilesa Custodial Centre was a beautiful reminder that empowerment goes beyond learning a skill, it builds confidence, teamwork, and purpose.

The inmates began repainting the walls of the custodial centre, transforming their environment with the very skills they have acquired over the past few days. We also held group presentations where participants shared what they had learned and the best presentations were rewarded with cash prizes.

Every brushstroke tells a story of hope, every lesson creates a new possibility and every opportunity brings us one step closer to meaningful rehabilitation and reintegration.

Eight years ago, we walked into the Ilesa Custodial Center with a vision; to empower inmates with a skill that could give them hope beyond incarceration. We taught them how to produce paint and how to paint and together, they transformed the walls of the custodial center.

Today, eight years later, history is repeating itself.

We are back for Ilesa Painting Empowerment 2.0 and after three days of intensive training, these incredible men and women are once again putting their newly acquired skills to work. Watching inmates repaint the very walls that were first transformed during our empowerment eight years ago is a powerful reminder that true empowerment leaves a lasting legacy.

This is more than painting walls.
This is building confidence.
This is proving that when people are given an opportunity, they can create something beautiful.

Every brushstroke tells a story of hope, rehabilitation and second chances.

The legacy continues..

Day 2 at Ilesa Custodial Center Painting Empowerment..
We introduced a Life Building Class, equipping inmates with practical lessons beyond the walls of the custodial center. They also had a hands-on session where they successfully learned how to produce five different types of paint.

To round off the day, both the male and female inmates came together to repaint one part of the buildings inside the custodial center with our signature, a powerful reminder that transformation begins from within.

One skill at a time. One life at a time. One legacy at a time.
