AGTiVΞx is becoming exactly what it was created to be — a collaborative space for learning, sharing, testing ideas, showcasing innovations, and connecting with experts across the agricultural ecosystem.
Kano turned up strong, and once again proved that the future of agriculture will be tech-driven, youth-led, and community-rooted.

We extend our appreciation to everyone who attended, contributed, volunteered, and made the discussions impactful. Kano has set the pace.

Next stops for the AGTiVΞx Mashup:
📍 Gombe
📍 Enugu
📍 Edo State

Get ready — we’re coming with even more energy, opportunities, and innovation!

CONESAM Nigeria is pleased to share highlights from yesterday’s AGTiVΞx Mashup in Kano - a gathering that brought together young agripreneurs, student innovators, agri-tech creators, researchers, and passionate ecosystem players.

The Mashup successfully brought together 125 participants: Students from Bayero University Kano, Federal College of Agriculture and Produce Kano, Younger Farmers Association Kano, CONESAM members, TIC incubates, and youths in Agriculture from Kaduna and Jigawa etc.

Participants engaged in insightful conversations on data-driven agriculture, homegrown mechanization, digital tools, and pathways for improving access to opportunities. Each speaker delivered practical insights that young innovators can immediately apply to build, grow, and scale their ideas.
What inspired us most was the openness, curiosity, and determination shown by the participants. You could see the excitement in their eyes and feel the motivation across the room.

Here is what our event from the last two weeks shows.

In Lagos, the National Technical Review Team (NATRET) carried out a hands-on evaluation of technologies and processes developed by Research Institutions across Nigeria.
NATRET plays a pivotal role in ensuring that innovations align with national goals, meet global standards, and respond to real market and user demands. This step is part of the Technology Development and Support Process (TDSP), helping to ensure the solutions are both fit-for-purpose and future-ready.
The team includes experts from:

STANDARD ORGANIZATION OF NIGERIA (SON)
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC)
National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization
NSPRI Nigeria
National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University
Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria
CONESAM (representing fabricators, processors, and farmers)

These were the closing words from Samuel Abas at the Local-Led Innovation Pitch Event, where stakeholders gathered to contribute to the ongoing effort in shaping the future of agricultural mechanization in Nigeria.
Participants were officially welcomed into the CONESAM network, with a call to action to “exchange contacts, stay connected, and join your state groups.”

All were urged to continue contributing beyond the event, as the process now shifts into development.
Two major technical working groups have been activated: the National Technology Review Team (NATRET ) and Research Institutions Technology Development Team (RIDET), tasked with refining the pitched technologies.

As Sam explained, “Selected innovations will undergo public-facing, feedback-driven development, ensuring they are strengthened before being showcased.”

The journey doesn’t end here. Feedback gathered will shape the technologies ahead of the National Agricultural Mechanization and Innovation Forum set to be held in Niger State. From innovation to inclusion, each step is building toward a system where solutions are co-created, tested, and sustained locally.

Stay tuned. The process is transparent. The vision is bold. The impact will be shared.

Since inception, the RISA-KECC program has prioritized inclusive approaches to implementation. This inclusive mindset has extended into the research and innovation of the products pitched at the event.
During her remarks, Nelly Nyanguah, the GEDSI expert for the project, challenged participants to become "inspectors of reading" - encouraging deeper reflection on how technologies include or exclude.

She emphasized that technologies designed to solve problems must not create new barriers. Too often, tools are developed in urban settings by groups that do not fully represent women, persons with disabilities, or underserved communities.
🔑 Key considerations for inclusive innovation:
• Mainstream GEDSI principles in every design process
• Ensure accessible information for women and persons with disabilities
• Avoid assumptions around literacy or urban access
• Recognize that inclusion is a foundation, not a favour
Technologies must be built to serve everyone. 💪🏾🌍💻
