How to build content pillars for social media
You don't have to create something completely new every time you post.
Content pillars give your content direction. They define the key themes your brand should consistently talk about.
They help you:
• Know what to talk about
• Stay focused
• Stay consistent
• Keep your content aligned with your brand
How to create yours
1. Choose 3–5 key themes you want your brand to be known for.
2. List the main topics within each theme.
3. Break those topics into smaller subtopics.
4. Turn those subtopics into content ideas.
5. Organize your ideas into a simple content plan.
6. Create, observe, refine, and repeat.
Example
Pillar: Personal Growth
Topics: Identity, Discipline, Self-awareness, Values
Subtopics under Identity:
Self-image, identity shifts, confidence, authenticity, people-pleasing
Content ideas:
• A reflection on outgrowing an old identity (talking video)
• A carousel on identity vs. image
• A quote about authenticity
Simple content plan:
Monday — Identity reflection
Wednesday — Discipline carousel
Friday — Self-awareness post
Sunday — Values quote
Content pillars turn scattered ideas into a clear direction for your content.
