WE CHANGE SOCIETY WHEN WE RAISE BOYS

We don’t change society by just addressing the men, we change society by raising the boys!

Every society is a reflection of the kind of boys we raise. The values we teach young boys today i.e respect, empathy, equality, responsibility, discipline, and accountability eventually become the character of our homes, institutions, leadership, and nation tomorrow.

If we desire a safer, kinder, and more just society, then raising boys into good men must become a collective responsibility, not an afterthought.

forget about the Boys!

Happy International Day of the Boy Child from all of us at NBA Lagos Branch!

*Strengthening Justice Through Collaboration: NBA Lagos Visits AIG FCID Alagbon*

On May 11, 2026, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, led by Chairman Mrs. Uchenna Ogunedo Akingbade, alongside members of its Executive Committee and Human Rights Committee, paid a strategic courtesy visit to AIG Simeon Udofia Akpanudom at the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

The visit centered on building stronger institutional ties between the legal profession and law enforcement, with a focus on improving communication, enhancing justice delivery, and promoting human rights protection.

During the meeting, the NBA highlighted key areas for collaboration, including joint training programmes, stakeholder engagement, and reforms within the justice sector. A major proposal was the inclusion of the Human Rights Committee in the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme (PDSS) visits at the FCID facility, as well as partnerships to tackle pressing issues like human trafficking.

Vice Chairman Mr. James Sonde emphasized the NBA’s continued commitment to upholding the rule of law and introduced the newly established Human Anti-Trafficking Committee, calling for synergy with relevant police units.

In response, AIG Akpanudom welcomed the initiative and expressed strong support for collaborative training, particularly on the Anti-Torture Act (2017) and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (2015). He stressed the need to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and their practical implementation.

The engagement concluded with mutual commitments to sustained dialogue, joint capacity-building efforts, and enhanced protection of suspects’ rights. Overall, the visit marked a significant step toward a more coordinated and people-centered approach to justice and law enforcement in Lagos State.
