To Better Nigeria Working towards better Governance for Nigeria

18/11/2025

While Nigeria bleeds, our leaders are busy chasing party positions.

How do you fight for titles when the nation you claim to serve is burning?

Insecurity is rising, the economy is sinking, young people are leaving, and essential systems are collapsing — yet the loudest noise in Abuja is who becomes party chairman, who controls the structure, who gets the ticket.

This is not leadership.
This is self-preservation dressed as service.

Nigeria does not need politicians obsessed with power games.

Nigeria needs leaders who can confront the crises facing our people — food inflation, joblessness, insecurity, failing education and a frustrated generation begging for direction.

Enough of the political jostling.
Fix the nation first.
Power without purpose is a burden, not an achievement.

Nigeria deserves better.
The people deserve better.

End the Fire: Time for the Nigerian Military to Win the War Within 💪🇳🇬

For over a decade, Nigerians have endured pain, displacement, and fear caused by insurgency. From the North-East to the Middle Belt, lives are lost daily — and the call for peace grows louder.

Our military has shown courage, but the war drags on. Challenges such as poor intelligence coordination, inadequate equipment, corruption, low morale, and political interference weaken the fight against terror.

It’s time for a new strategy — one built on transparency, technology, and trust.
✅ Equip our troops with modern surveillance and combat tools.
✅ Strengthen intelligence-sharing among agencies.
✅ Improve soldier welfare and post-war rehabilitation.
✅ Involve communities in peace-building and early warning systems.

Nigeria deserves safety. The blood of our heroes demands victory. Let’s unite behind a professional, accountable, and people-focused military to finally end insurgency and reclaim peace.

Nigeria: “A Country of Concern”?

When the President of the United States lists Nigeria as a “Country of Concern,” it’s more than just a diplomatic tag — it carries real implications.
It signals worries about human rights, governance, religious freedom, and political accountability. This label can affect:

International reputation and investor confidence 💼

Visa and trade relations 🌍

Security and intelligence cooperation 🤝

Foreign aid and development partnerships 💸

But this is also a wake-up call — not a death sentence.

Diplomatic Solutions Nigeria can harness:
1️⃣ Strengthen human rights protection and justice reforms.
2️⃣ Engage in transparent diplomatic dialogue with the U.S. and global partners.
3️⃣ Improve national security and religious tolerance efforts.
4️⃣ Promote anti-corruption measures and governance reforms.
5️⃣ Use public diplomacy and strategic communication to rebuild trust.

Nigeria’s image abroad starts with the actions we take at home. 🌿

91-year-old Nigerian Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has revealed that his non-immigrant visa to the United States was revoked by the U.S. Consulate in Lagos.

He received a letter dated 23 October 2025 stating that “additional information became available after the visa was issued” and that his B1/B2 visa was cancelled.

Soyinka believes the decision may be linked to his public comparison of former U.S. President Donald Trump to Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, remarking that while he called Trump a “white version of Idi Amin,” he meant it as a compliment given Amin’s “international stature.”
- Newsweek

Despite the revocation, he says he holds no grievance with the American people and remains “very content” with the outcome — adding that he has no intention of reapplying

Soyinka was the first African to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986 and as become a towering figure in Nigerian and global letters.

The move draws attention to how global mobility, visas, and international exchanges intersect with free expression, especially for dissenting voices.

For Nigerians and African creatives, it underlines how political critique and diplomacy can engage in unexpected ways — there's a message about principle and sovereignty here.

President Tinubu has officially commissioned Section 1 (30km) of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, stretching from Ahmadu Bello Way to Eleko in Lagos. This marks a major milestone in the ambitious 700km project aimed at boosting connectivity along Nigeria’s southern coastline.

What you need to know:
- The section covers Victoria Island to Eleko, helping decongest traffic and improve travel time.
- The entire highway will run through 9 coastal states, connecting Lagos to Calabar.
- It’s expected to enhance trade, tourism, and job creation in the region.

This project promises easier movement of people and goods, potential for new businesses, and better access to coastal communities.

The Federal Government has officially launched Project SPROUT (Special Palliative Relief of University Transportation), an initiative aimed at providing cleaner and more affordable transport options in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

The project was unveiled on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Abuja and is being led by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), according to a statement posted on the initiative’s official X account.

Why it matters:

- CNG is cleaner and cheaper than petrol or diesel.
- This move could cut transportation costs for students and staff.
- It’s also a big step toward sustainable, eco-friendly mobility in Nigeria.

What to expect:

- Safer, cheaper, and greener transportation on campuses.
- A potential model for public transport nationwide.

Following intense backlash from civic groups, legal experts, and everyday Nigerians, the House of Representatives has officially withdrawn the compulsory voting bill - a bill that proposed ₦100,000 fines or six months imprisonment for eligible citizens who choose not to vote.

While low voter turnout is a serious concern, the now-withdrawn bill sparked important national questions:

- Is democracy still democracy when participation is coerced?

- Does penalizing non-voters solve apathy — or deepen mistrust?

- How do we create systems people want to engage in, rather than fear not engaging in?

This reversal is a reminder that citizens still have power to shape policy through feedback, dialogue, and dissent. But it also highlights the urgent need for real reforms that address the why behind voter disengagement — not just the what.

So here’s the question: 👇🏽👇🏽

Now that the bill has been withdrawn, what should Nigeria do differently to increase voter participation — without compromising democratic freedoms?

Let’s talk in the comments
